Missing my girlfriends..

Something Good No Comments »

Still doing a clean up in my Outlook, and I found an email sent by my friend Judy last August 2010. Too bad of me not to read the email which contains a very valuable message. Let me post it here. After reading this message, I cannot help but really miss my girl friends… :(

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter, ‘Don’t forget your sisters,’ she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. ‘They’ll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.’ ‘Remember that ‘sisters’ means ALL the women…your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. ‘You’ll need other women. Women always do.’

What a funny piece of advice!’ the young woman thought. Haven’t I just gotten married? Haven’t I just joined the couple-world? I’m now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!’

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I’ve learned: THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don’t do what they’re supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT………

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley’s rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley’s end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you….Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family all bless our life!

The world wouldn’t be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still. :)

A Call from Canada

It's my Life 1 Comment »

Today is my off so I didn’t go to sleep right away after work. I wasn’t sleepy anyway and I want my restday to be productive. Last Saturday, I wasn’t able to do the things I wanted because I slept the whole day!

Last night, I was able to open my Friendster account during lunch time. I have a message from one of my closest friends in college. She asked for my number so that she can call me. I replied to her message and gave our home phone number (which was just activated recently) and provided her also my cp number.  I told her that the best time to call me is either Saturday or Sunday since I will be on off then.

This morning, while I am watching Charmed through DVD, our phone rang and I answered it. I thought it was just my cousin Anne, who often call us to talk to my daughter but it wasn’t her. I was really surprised when I learned that my caller is actually calling overseas! :)

Romy Rose was a college classmate and is one of my dearest friends. Like Daisy, Ime and Pinky, she knows me inside and out. We have lost contact since 2002. I tried to look for her through friendster then but failed. Then just a couple of weeks ago, I found her husband’s name Letlet in the social networking site. Well, I thought the account is her husband’s but it is actually hers. I left a comment there and we started exchanging messages. :)

Then, this morning she called up and believe me we talked for almost an hour and a half! Oh yeah, you bet her phone bill will be that much! Anyway, we really had a lot of things to share. It’s been 7 years since we last see and spoke to each other. She has 2 kids and happily married. I am happy for her. She asked for our dear friends, (who else my beautiful barkadas!) and other college classmates.

I know that an hour and a half is not enough for all the things that we’d like to share with each other but I know that it will not be the last. Besides, she needs to send her babies to sleep. It was 11PM her time then.

Well, I truly miss her and I was really happy to talk to her again!

Ciao! :)

A Word from Dadi K

Work Stuff No Comments »

He doesn’t know that I am teary eyed as we talk through chat this morning. My former team lead Sir Kamo (whom I fond of calling Dadi K), asked me earlier if I will be resigning from our company soon. I told him that I have plans and that I am currently applying in different companies. He asked me if I have thought about it a couple of times already. I told him that I did think about it many many times. I have been in the company for more than 5 years and I cannot see any “future” there anymore. Well, maybe for some there’s still but not me. :(

I never been so disoriented about my work. Well, I love my work as a technical support. I guess the current process and policies that our account has made me to be very eager to apply in different companies.  Dadi K said that when I leave, I and Nonet will not have any health cards until I become a regular employee. To be honest, I have little money in the bank and I forget about it because I saved it for Nonet’s schooling. He said that what if she needs to be hospitalized again? Will I be able to shoulder all the expenses? I will not. That’s why I pray to God that she will not get sick anymore.

As Dadi K talk to me through chat, I was really sad and I really wanted to cry. :( I have earned a lot of good friends from the company. Friends I have been with, for the last six years. Friends whom I can lean on in times of crisis. Friends whom I shared tears and laughters with. Friends who make me go to work everyday. Friends whom I love and treasure. Friends whom I will truly miss when I leave.

But then, though I love my friends very much, there’s a little girl who depends on me. A little girl who is “high maintainance” due to her skin asthma. Someone whom I love very very much.

I told Dadi K that I cannot see any future here. Everyday, I do my best to meet our daily sales target that has a big impact in our kpi grade that has a big impact in our salary. My friend Julius always tease me as the “poorest girl” in the office. That our security personnel’s salary is bigger than mine. :( Well, there was really a time that it happened.

I am glad that although, I’m no longer part of Dadi Kamo’s team, he still cares for me like a “father” and a very good team leader. Thank you, sir! Well, I am not leaving any soon. I can still stand the pressure that our support requires.

But I always pray to God to guide me in every decision that I’ll make. I know also that He will provide for me.

Ciao! :)

Well, she’s my bestfriend’s youngest child. She was born through C-section last July 1, 2009. I just can’t help posting her picture with her kuya David because I am really happy to see her. Imagine, she’s 7.9 punds! :) I told her mother Daisy that she looks more than a month old already, yet she’s only 1 week old today! :)

Tita Anette (and hopefully with ate Antoinette and Tito Tata) will visit you and mommy soon. So, hope to see you then. Be a good girl to mommy and daddy. Kuya David, be a loving and caring kuya, okay.

Rhaine Danielle and Ron David

Daisy, her mother, is not only my bestfriend but a dear sister, too. Hope to see you soon. :)

A vacation to be?

Quezon Province, travel No Comments »

My bestfriend Daisy was able to read my post about Nonet and I’s quick vacation to Quezon. She asked me if I can take her there, ofcourse I can but maybe after she gave birth to her second baby. :)

I have not replied to her comment yet, but surely if our schedules will meet then I will definitely take her and her family with my own family. The place is quite far indeed, but then the place will surely paid the travel time.

I hope to offer her some free hotel stay so that they could really relax and enjoy the place. I am thinking of inviting our two other girlfriends, Pinky and Ime.

I actually miss them all already.

Ciao! :)

Little Friends

It's my Life, Little Antoinette 1 Comment »

It’s the 3rd day of 2009 and I am still catching up with the things that happened before the new year unfolds. A day before new year, we helped our mother sorted our things that we can actually give to our relatives in the province. Things like clothes, shoes, bags which are used but in good conditions.

In sorting my “things”, I found my stamp collections. I used to collect stamps when I was in grade school. I even found some custom rubber stamps which I bought some years ago. I intend to continue collecting stamps but then, since we have Internet and text messages these days, only few people send letters through mail. Well, I still hope that I will be able to find stamps in my letter box. :)

We’re half way through fixing our “give aways”, when Nonet’s friend, Andre, came in and asked me to take some pictures of them.  Well, since my little girl is in the mood of smiling infront of the camera with bestfriend Andre, I got my Nikon camera ready and took some shots.. :)

They’re really good to look at :)

See how happy Nonet is with her friend? :)

A Friendship Bond

It's my Life No Comments »

I am sure that it is already late for Daisy and me, to own one of these cute Twibbles and me. Actually, we did not really intend to have one. It was something like “by accident,” but a fortunate one.

After the seminar, which we attended at Belvue Hotel last month, we decided to spend time with each other before going home. We headed to SM South Mall in Las Piñas City, where we strolled and had some window-shopping. Then Daisy remembered that she still has her GC, which she earned from being perfect attendance from work.

We went to Toy Kingdom to find something for her son, David. We went around the store and she ended up getting a book with Bible stories. While, she is waiting for her turn to the counter, I busied myself checking on the items they have on sale. Then, I found these Twibbles which really cost cheaper that its regular price. There were 3 pieces left only. Two of its kind is Clippety and the other one is Buckey. I caught Daisy’s attention and told her that we she can get Clippety and I will take Buckey and swap the other piece with each other. The Twibbles came in a pair. One is really intended for you to keep while the other piece is for you to swap with.

So Daisy bought Clippety and I took Buckey and we exchanged the other piece as our friendship bond. We really had a great time together and I know that our friendship would last a lifetime. :)

This is Clippety which Daisy bought.

This one is Buckey. I got it! :)

Clippety and Buckey!

Angels by Our Side

Angels around us, It's my Life 4 Comments »

When we heard of the word angel, we always think of a super natural being or spirits. We often depicted angels as beings with wings and halo. It could be someone who is usually in a form of light. But little did we know that angels are not only those spiritual beings that we have grown up with.

When we were younger, I’m sure that most of us have learned the prayer to our guardian angels. Do you recall that prayer? Well for your recollection that prayer goes like this, “Angel of God, my guardian dear to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side to light and guide, to rule and guard. Amen.” This is actually the first prayer that I have taught my little girl.

Up until today, every morning when I leave the house for work or if I go somewhere, I always utter this prayer. And I personally had my own encounter with my dear angel. It’s like the wind. We can’t see them but we know they’re with us.

But as I was saying, angels are not only those spiritual beings and forms that we usually think of. In our everyday life, we find an angel from our friends, family and colleagues. In times of trouble, they are there to catch us and help us. These are people who play the role of an angel in our lives. They may not know that once or twice they’d been an angel to us and could still be playing an angel role in our lives.

Well, angels are around us. God did not only send us angels in spirit forms but also angels in people around us who love and care for us. Whoever that angel is in your life, a little thank you and appreciation will surely make his/her day! :)

Best friend Daisy and I had our picture taken with John Lloyd and Sarah, while singing, “Oh, I… found a very special love in you..”

Thank you Pinky for the treat. Really loved and enjoyed the movie. :)

A Friendship to Last a Lifetime

It's my Life 5 Comments »

Last Saturday, I had a date with my pretty “barkadas”. It was Pinky’s birthday last August 21, and we asked her to treat us so we could see each other. Daisy and I see each other more often than I see Pinky and Ime.

Pinky is the most poised among us, and I’m the most “baluga”. Hehehe! Daisy always finds time to pamper herself. She goes to salon and has her hair done. Like what she always tell me, even if were chubby moms, we should always look beautiful. Ime, on the other hand has her own kakikayan always. They all wear make up. I asked my best friend Daisy for an eye shadow and applied some. We are all pretty, anyway. :)

This picture was taken during our graduation about 5 years ago. Whew! Daisy is the one on the far left, then Pinky, then I, and Imelda. How I miss the old days.  :)

Whew! We have been wiser and stronger over the years. Yet, still beautiful. :)

 Ime and Anet

 Pinky and Daisy

We celebrated Pinky’s birthday at Robinson’s galleria. We met at around 1:30pm. If in the office, my colleagues tag me as a late person, well among us 4, Pinky is always the one late. Love you, Pinks! ? Imagine this, the 3 of us are already in Robinson, and when I texted Pinky, she said that she just finished shower!

After about 30 minutes of waiting, Pinky came and the 4 of us chat as if we have not seen each other for years. Well, the last time that we had this date was about 2-3 years ago already. We missed each other a lot. We talked about the latest things in our lives. We talked about our love life, work and anything that we can talk about.

We ate our lunch at Iceberg. It is located on the 4th floor of Galleria. By simply looking at its façade, you’ll think that only offer ice cream, sundae and fruit splits. But, they do offer mouth-watering dishes. I had Shrimp Gambas with mushroom. It has a chilly sauce but it’s good. Pinky went for Spaghetti with mushroom and tomatoes. It an Italian style spaghetti so, it a bit sour because of the tomatoes. Ime ate Sizzling sisig and that made her sizzle. Daisy’s tummy was filled with cheesy carbonara. If you’ll ask who ordered the best dish, it’s Daisy. Though she didn’t like the garlic bread that came with it for it’s not as fresh as she expected it.

We enjoyed the meal and thanked Pinky for the treat. We also watched A Very Special Love which starred Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz. Oh my! John Lloyd really looks good in the big screen. We felt like we’re high school students! We really enjoyed the movie. It’s a feel good to see movie.

Daisy, Pinky, Ime and I have been good friends since college. We have witnessed each other’s up and down. Though, we don’t see each other now as often like before, we know in our hearts that we will always be there for each other. Our friendship is something that we value and cared for. A friendship that will last a lifetime.
