What is your dream job?

It's my Life, lifestyle 1 Comment »

If I were to ask about my dream job, it would be being a “Cashier” in a department store or a supermarket! It is true. I used to play a cashier when I was young. My younger sister would act as the customer with her basket of goodies. We made our own play moneys then. We cut out bond papers and write the amount on it. We used bottle covers as coins. Then I would borrow my mother’s calculator and I would be the cashier.

cash register

It really makes me laugh every time I remember those days :) . My younger sister’s dream job was to be a “tinapa/daing” vendor :) . She had this dream because of our friend vendor who counts the money from the tinapa(steamed fish) and daing she was able to sell. When my sister saw her counting all the money, she’s really amazed and told my mother that she wanted to be a vendor when she grew up. Well, she was only 5 then and I was 8.  :)

To this day, I would really want to experience being a cashier just for the sake of fulfilling my so- called ”dream job”. But then, maybe a little help from weight loss product will help me to trim down a bit. As we know, cashiers, sales ladies and the like have slim bodies! :)

42. When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you ‘squeeze’ for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie.

They are:
Monday = Blue
Tuesday = Green
Thursday = Red

Friday = White (Like to have the font in white but you’ll not be able to see it)
Saturday = Yellow

So if today was Thursday, you would want a red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue- Green – Red – White – Yellow, Monday through Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new ev eryday! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

Don’t forget Gatorade for Migraine Headaches. PowerAde won’t work. Pass this information on to friends so they can be informed. :)

Crowning Glory

Beauty and Health No Comments »

Yesterday in the office before our shift starts, my friend Essa had her usual “hair ironing session”. I asked her if I could have my hair done as well. Then as I comb my hair to set it ready for the hair iron, I noticed the ample of hair that fell down. I get a bit scared for I might have a bad hair fall and eventually lose my crowning glory.

For us women, our hair plays a lot of factor in our over all personality. The way we dress our hair and the way it shines add a lot in our confidence and often times shows the feelings that we have. What if one day, we lost it? Yes I know that there are a lot of artificial hair and wigs that you can get and buy from your favorite beauty store. Yet our technology has developed a good way of restoration of hair. Some transplant surgeon will make our crowning glory back to life.

So, women and men as well, have nothing to worry about losing their hair. :)

Let Yourself Cry

Beauty and Health No Comments »

When was the last time you cried? How did it feel?

Crying, says Dr. Alan Epstein, is a great way to release the buildup of accumulated tensions, and it can make you feel tremendously alive to sob quietly or out loud. Here are his suggestions:

  • Do something that will draw out tears. One of the best way is to rent a movie that will make you cry. Ask your local video store for recommendations. If they cannot, try Love Story or Terms of Endearment
  • After the movie, get in touch with the feelings engendered by the movie. Become aware of how much energy is released during you cry, how tired but clear you feel afterward. Be aware of the depth of your emotions.
  • If you have unresolved grief, take the opportunity to become aware of it.

Coping up with SLEEPING PROBLEMS

Beauty and Health No Comments »

Call center agents like me usually have their work at night, while the eastern part of the world is sleeping. That is because our clients live in the western countries such as Canada and United States.

When it’s time for us to sleep, then people around us are all awake and busy. So we find it hard to get a good sleep. I found these solutions by a psychologist, Reneau Z. Peurifoy,
for reducing sleep problems.

Go to bed and get up at the same time each day and avoid making up for lost sleeps on weekends or holidays. This helps your biological clock. Naps are all right if they are taken on a fixed schedule.

Avoid using bed for reading, watching televisions, doing work or other activities.

Don’t neglect the obvious: sleep is easiest in a dark, quiet and ventilated room.

Follow an established routine for going to bed, such as brushing your hair and teeth, pulling down the sheets, etc. They become a conditioned response trigger that tells your body that it is time to sleep now.

Use relaxation techniques to help asleep.

Do not lie awake in bed for more than 20 minutes. If relaxation techniques do not induce sleep, get up and go to a different part of the house. Do a quiet relaxing activity like reading a book or watching TV until you feel tired.

Avoid caffeine, nicotine, heavy meals, and strenuous exercise for three to five hours before bedtime.

If noise in your surroundings bother you, place a radio next to your bed and tune it between stations to produce white noise. This white noise will serve as a cover for other distracting noise.

Stay away from alcohol, it can make matters worse. Even moderate amounts of alcohol can disturb sleep or create a backlash of sleeplessness later in the night.

Avoid the daily use of sleeping medications, and use only when absolutely necessary. Drugs can alter normal sleep patterns and suppress deep sleep. Sleeping pills are often one of the main ingredients of long-term sleeplessness.

INNER and OUTER BEAUTY

I’m back with TIPS and IDEAS about keeping our body and our life inside and out. As I check my “files”, I found an article written bu Ms. Cory Quirino in her column “Inside Out” in the daily broadsheet, Philippine Daily Inquirer. I don’t remember when this article was published.

Everybody wanted to stay young and keep that youthful glow inside and out/ Ms. Cory said that there are 4 D’s in preserving and enhancing one’s youth. I must agree that,

A healthy lifestyle and a positive outlook on life
can add not just years to your life
but to your years

So what are those 4 D’s then:

DESIRE –  You must want to be attractive, to have a fit body and more importantly, to feel good about yourself. Surrender to this desire. Commit your heart.

DETERMINATION – You must will yourself to adopt a wellness lifestyle. Change your attitude toward your body and your health. Believe that you can do it. Commit your mind.

DEDICATION – Devote yourself to exercise and healthy plan. Commit your body.

DELIGHT – Love yourself first and the positive results will follow. Commit your psyche.

I also learned a good way of pampering ourselves. It’s a home made beauty regimen for skin rejuvenation.

SUGAR SCRUB

Ingredients:
2 cups of brown sugar
½ cup of olive oil (for dry skin), light olive oil or corn oil (for oily skin)

Rub the oil all over your naked body and face(that means sans make up). With clean hands, take some sugar and rub in a circular motion. Stop when you feel your skin tingle from the light abrasion or when it turns pink. Shower with warm water. Soap your body. End the shower with cold water, Use a light body and face moisturizer. See amazing results in 10 minutes. Enjoy :)

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly

Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise

Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong

Certain as the sun (certain as the sun)
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast

Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast

Ejay Falcon, big winner?

Filipino Showbiz 5 Comments »

I was watching Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition plus, Big Night last June 7, 2008. I like Robi or Robert Marion Domingo(18, True Blue Atenista) to win over Ejay Falcon(18, Promdi Hottie of Mindoro), Beauty Gonzales(16, Rebellious Beauty of Dumaguete ), and  Nicole Uysiuseng(17, In-chick of Cebu) who were in the big four as well. I found Robi as a model for the youth. He’s serious though, but we have seen him proved himself. I believe that a Filipino youth model is someone who thinks first before doing any actions.  I felt bad when Ejay was proclaimed as the PBB Teen Edition plus big winner.  I understood Ejay everytime he nominated Robi. But, PBB is not a charity game. If Robi doesn’t deserve to be part of it, then, he will not be chosen as one of the PBB teen housemates. Aside from that, I don’t think PBB is a show for less fortunate people only. It’s just so irritating everytime Ejay will reason that Robi has everything already. I know he didn’t come from a well to do family. I understand what his family had gone through because of financial difficulties. Yet he shouldn’t use those for people to pity him. He should prove himself, which I don’t think he was able to.

I have no relations whatsoever with Robi. It’s just that I found him to be the most deserving teen to be called the Big winner. If you try to recall some of the challenges/tasks which were given to the teens,  you will notice that most of the time, Ejay was the reason why they will not win a certain task. I remember watching “Uber” and one of the comments about Ejay was for him to put his brain in his head and not step on it. I remember they were ask to do a cheer dance using ABS-CBN’s summer station ID song. If they will be able to do the cheer dance with no mistake, the Guardian whom they’d select got to win 100,000.00. The kind heated teens, have chosen Mang Erning(father of Ejay). I found Mang Erning as a good man and he really deserved it when he won as the First Guardian Big winner.

The day had come for the teens to show their cheer dance. The 100,000.00 had been cut down to 30,000.00. Reason? Ejay comitted all the mistakes in the dance. I just don’t understand it. He knew that his father will be the recipient of the price, yet he didn’t perform well. Just recently, when the teens were given a certain task for them to win 5 Television sets, to be donated to selected public schools, well, if only Ejay learned to use his brain, I bet they had won in that challenge.

I just don’t find Ejay to be called PBB teen big winner. I don’t think he deserves it. It’s not because he is poor then he should win the game. I don’t find his “drama in life” touching. Its just irritates me. Yet, maybe some blinded people were caught by his bait and so, he won.
