Angels in Disguise

Something Good No Comments »

I had immediate financial needs this week and I really don’t know how to resolve it. I don’t know where to find money. At the back of my mind I know that God will help me resolve it, that I just need to have faith. And, He did. God never let me down. :)

I asked few friends but they didn’t have extra money anymore, too. Yet, they helped me in their own ways to find some. I really appreciate the gesture and their efforts to help me. :) I was worried then but I didn’t lose hope. I know that everything will be okay for I have God. And, once again, He never left me.

In spite of the many terrible things that happen in our world today, it is still good to know that there are still people around us that we can really call as our friends; that God truly will never leave us no matter what happens. We just need to have faith and never lose our trust in Him.

Thank you to all my friends. You are God’s sent to me. You are all my angels in disguise. :)

God bless us all!

Ciao! :)

Missing my girlfriends..

Something Good No Comments »

Still doing a clean up in my Outlook, and I found an email sent by my friend Judy last August 2010. Too bad of me not to read the email which contains a very valuable message. Let me post it here. After reading this message, I cannot help but really miss my girl friends… :(

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter, ‘Don’t forget your sisters,’ she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. ‘They’ll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.’ ‘Remember that ‘sisters’ means ALL the women…your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. ‘You’ll need other women. Women always do.’

What a funny piece of advice!’ the young woman thought. Haven’t I just gotten married? Haven’t I just joined the couple-world? I’m now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!’

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I’ve learned: THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don’t do what they’re supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley’s rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley’s end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you….Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family all bless our life!

The world wouldn’t be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still. :)

My Angel Finder

Angels around us 3 Comments »

I should have had an interview with QTV 11′s Chances Are staff this evening about my angel collection. But according to Aubrey, there were some changes made by the producer and the said interview will not happen anymore. Well, that’s fine. Anyway, there had been good things that happened for that “supposed to tete-a-tete” with Chances Are. :) One of the good things was that, we’re able to maintain the cleanliness and ordiliness of the house! :) Well, my mother is really glad about it!

Then, as I prepare my collections for that supposed interview, I realized that having an angel collection is something that can be considered as stress reliever. As I brushed the dust from my little angels, I felt a very calm and relaxing feeling. You bet, I didn’t get easily angry! :)

As I checked on my clippings and articles about angels, I thought that it wasn’t good enough to be called as a collection. So, I asked my youngest sister, Pauline to accompany me a bookstore and find some books about angels.

We went straight to the religious books as soon as arrived into the bookstore. It had been 30 minutes already but we can’t really find any book about angel! As in! Then, I spoke to my angel and told him to help us find one. As I turned into another shelf, I immediately found a book entitled, “Who is your Guardian Angel”. I checked on the price but it was around Php500! I told my sister that maybe the book could be on its discounted price. It wasn’t look brand new. At the back of my mind I was praying hard that the book should be on sale.

When I verified it from the counter, I learned that the book is only Php103 only! It was an amazing incident! :)

Well, even if the interview didn’t happen, I will continue to post my angel experiences here on my blog. It may not be as extraordinary as it is, but these experiences happen to let us know that they do exist. That we can count on them no matter what. :)

Angel loves French Fries!

Angels around us, movies 4 Comments »

Well, I guess only in movies. :) I have not collecting angel stuff yet when I first seen this movie. I was in grade school, still. I haven’t watch the movie in cinema, for this movie was released in theaters sometime in 1987. I was only 6 years old then! :) Even at a young age, I have love angels already. Date with an Angel, is one of my all-time favorite movies. The story is about an angel who fell from heaven to take Jim Sanders soul back to heaven. Well, check the plot synopsis here.

Date with an Angel

Emmanuel Beart played the angel. While Phoebe Cates played the fiancee of Jim Sanders (played by Michael Knight). One of my favorite scenes in the movie was when Jim’s buddies, kidnapped her using a french fries as a bait. Oh, how she loves french fries! :)

Well, even though she’s an angel, they still ended up together. What happened? Well, you’ve got to see the movie! :)

Angelic Collection

Angels around us 4 Comments »

It was a happy feeling when someone appreciate my everyday stories that I share here. :) One of my readers, Aubrey, happened to drop by my journal one day and found my fascination about angels. Well, its been a while since I have shared my stories about our angels. Aubrey contacted me and asked about my fascination about these heavenly creatures.

I started to recall my obsession with angels then. Until, I finally establish a very close relationship with them. I just finished reading an article about our guardian angels and would you believe that God sends us legions of angels to protect us!?! Well, God really treats us like VIPs, right? :)

When Aubrey called me, she asked if I have collections of angels. Well, I certainly do. It is not a big collection though, but I managed to have around 30 pcs of angel figurines. This lead me to dig into my “abubots” and found interesting items about my addiction with angels!

I have always been an angel believer. If I remember it correctly, I started collecting angel figurines when I was in highschool. I just love them! :) My little collection grew in numbers when I was in college. But, we experienced financial difficulties then that my collection got affected. :(

Anyway, my love to these little babies led me in naming most of them. :) The first angel figurine I had was named Frannie. It was the same name I called my diary, then. I just learned about this again today when I scrumbled through my “boxes”. :)

Then, I had this 3 little girls which I named after my favorite names, Emmanuelle, Mikaela and Gabrielle. Would you believe that when I gave birth to my little girl, I have not used any of these names?!? Well, my daughter’s name origin has its own little amazing story. :)

Then I have these “band of angels”. I tagged them band of angels because they play instrument and one of the angels (which I named Princess Anne) is singing. I named her Princess Anne after my name. I have been a “royal” fan, too. :) The girls are Yana (named after my sister Pauline), Princess Anne and Jane (named after my sister Patricia Jane), respectively. Then the boys are John Gabriel, Prince Leonard (named him after ney, who plays drums very well!) and Paul Michael, respectively. The boys name (except for Prince Leonard) are my two favorite names which I intend to name my baby if ever God will bless me with a baby boy. :)

Band of Angels

Angelic Band

I’ve got few more significant angels which are nameless. I have one angel figurine who is sitting on an airplane. I’ve got that one because I have this big dream of working abroad, then. But, when I become a mother, plans changed. I would really miss my daughter if I work abroad.

Part of my collection also were clippings about angels, prayer books and books about them. I told Aubrey that I had a angel pin but when I checked on my things, it was actually an earing. I guess I lost the other pair for I only got 1 pc of the pair. :(

I had my calling cards and address stickers with angel themes, too. And, because of this angel-addiction, I remember my projects in college were all decorated and designed with angels! :)

I have forgotten about it already. I was smiling to myself this afternoon as I reminisce, while I arrange the little collection I have. I felt amazing and calm the whole day. The angelic ambience in our house is really wonderful. :)

Well, I know that my collection will start growing in numbers again. That’s for sure! :)

Ciao! :)

Ofcourse, Angels exist..

My dear friend Mami Grace and I had a small chat before she went out to lunch with her husband. She said that Nicole, their baby fell down the bed and got a bruise on her face. Then I shared my own experience with my baby. Then out of nowhere, I uttered, “siguro totoo ang guardian angels.” Ofcourse they exist! I never doubted their existence in my entire life. I know they’re just around me. Infact, I had several encounters with them. Not exactly that I have seen them in their astral figures or talk to them. But there have been a lot of instances that when I asked for help, then a help has been extended.

I am not sure if I have shared this experience in my previous posts about angels. It happened about few years ago. I was on my summer vacation then. I stayed at my aunt’s house. There were no faucet in the bathroom. You need to fetch the water from the water pump at the backyard.  I finished my bath late afternoon and I had to return the pail. Due to my stupidity then, I didn’t put my ring on my finger, instead let it hang on my finger. After I placed the pail near the water pump, my ring slipped off my finger. The ground was covered with gravel and it was getting late already. There was no electric light at the backyard.

I looked around but couldn’t find it. Then I uttered a prayer and asked help from my dear angel to help me find my ring. When I turned around I found my ring!

Actually, everyday, I feel their presence. I am not sure if I only got one guardian angel or more than 1. The thing is, I know they are there with me.

Another outstanding experience about guardian angel was when my daughter Antoinette is less than a year old. She’s really a very active kid even when she’s still a baby. One day, my sister left her for moment on the bed to get something. When she got back, she found Antoinette sitting at the rear side of the side. My sister called us for my daughter will fall down. We were stunned, for with her position, her head will be the one to hit the floor first.

But then, with her guardian angel around, she fell slowly. Her head touched the floor first but it touched the floor carefully. She cried, though. That’s because she heard me screamed.

I know a lot of people has their own personal experience with guardian angels. Though many people also denies the fact that these heavenly creatures do exist. But they do.. :)

Angel in Disguise

I was rushed to Medical City last Wednesday night.  I had a terrible pain on my nape and I really got dizzy then. My mother was so worried about me. I never experienced that pain before. The doctor did a check on me and she said nothing to worry. It could be some muscle spasm. She also said that if I am experiencing mental stress, then that area of my nape and up to the head will be greatly affected.

They gave me a tablet to relax my nape muscles and also a pain reliever. We stayed in the hospital for another hour for the doctor needs to check if there would be any changes in my conditions. After about an hour, I felt a little better yet there still some pain, but it is tolerable already.

As we leave the hospital, the rain is pouring so hard. We didn’t bring any umbrella. Then I told my mother that we’ll just take a cab going home. It was really a blessing that as we turn our head to where taxi’s usually pass, there’s one coming and it is empty. I told the driver  where we live. Inside the taxi, I felt a pleasing feeling. I looked around the taxi and its plate number is TYP 430. 430 when add up is 7. Seven who happens to be God’s number.

Others may say that it was just a coincidence. But then, I believe that God is with us and He sent as angel through the taxi driver. :)

Angels by Our Side

Angels around us, It's my Life 4 Comments »

When we heard of the word angel, we always think of a super natural being or spirits. We often depicted angels as beings with wings and halo. It could be someone who is usually in a form of light. But little did we know that angels are not only those spiritual beings that we have grown up with.

When we were younger, I’m sure that most of us have learned the prayer to our guardian angels. Do you recall that prayer? Well for your recollection that prayer goes like this, “Angel of God, my guardian dear to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side to light and guide, to rule and guard. Amen.” This is actually the first prayer that I have taught my little girl.

Up until today, every morning when I leave the house for work or if I go somewhere, I always utter this prayer. And I personally had my own encounter with my dear angel. It’s like the wind. We can’t see them but we know they’re with us.

But as I was saying, angels are not only those spiritual beings and forms that we usually think of. In our everyday life, we find an angel from our friends, family and colleagues. In times of trouble, they are there to catch us and help us. These are people who play the role of an angel in our lives. They may not know that once or twice they’d been an angel to us and could still be playing an angel role in our lives.

Well, angels are around us. God did not only send us angels in spirit forms but also angels in people around us who love and care for us. Whoever that angel is in your life, a little thank you and appreciation will surely make his/her day! :)

The Mystery of Assumption

It's my Life 1 Comment »

The Catholic believers celebrates Mama Mary’s Assumption on August 15. Some countries who have the Blessed Mother as their patron saint, set this day as a holiday.

I got home from work at around 1PM and felt very sleepy. I told myself that I will hear mass in the afternoon to celebrate this day’s feast. I slept ’til 5PM. Mass in our church will start at 6PM. Well, my guardian angel, Mary and Jesus woke me up so I can attend the mass.

I prepared myself and went to hear mass. It was raining when I left the house. The mass has not started yet. I was 10 minutes earlier. Luckily I wasn’t late. I have still time to contemplate and reflect. I know that Mama Mary loves me inspite of everything.

The rain poured so hard during the mass that I thought the procession afterwards will not push through. Yet, being a Marian devotee, our Parish Priest Msgr. Pagulayan, advised that we will still have the procession for the celebration of Mary’s Assumption to heaven.

After the mass, I met my cousion April, who is celebrating her birthday on the same day.  I asked her if we will join the procession, she said she doesn’t have an umbrella and the one I brought along is only good for one person.

Nevertheless, we joined the procession. We’re dripping from head to foot! But the sacrifice we did is priceless!

I remember my ninang Lina once told me that if I pray the Hail Mary for 1000 times on this day, whatever favor I would ask from the Holy Mother will be granted. She told me about it about 17 years ago. You bet I have not completed a thousand Hail Mary yet!

This is the statue of Mary that we have in our church for Assumption.

The lights are on and the man puts on the umbrella, the procession is about to start.

Sunday: Archangel Michael (Prince of the Heavenly Host)

Angels around us No Comments »

I wasn’t able to continue writing about our dear Archangels. I started out with Archangel Raphael which I have posted in last Tuesday. Archangel Raphael is the angel assigned to look over people who were born on Tuesday. There are 6 more Archangels more the other days of the week. I know that not all of us the day when we were born. Of course we know the date of our birthday, but we don’t exactly know what day of the week it is. I’m still researching for the Perpetual Calendar wherein you may be able to know the day of the week that you were born by simply typing your birth date.

Since today is Sunday, I have here Archangel Michael (Prince of the Heavenly Host).

St. Michael, The Archangel, is the Commander-In-Chief of all the hierarchies of the Heavenly Hosts. He is usually known as the angel who defeated Lucifer and his followers in the first rebellion of creatures against God. He is the first defender of Jesus in His sacred humanity and of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Mystery of the Incarnation. He is usually associated with the miracles manifesting the almighty power of God with the Blessed Virgin Mary.

PRAYER: O Mighty Prince of Heavenly Hosts, St. Michael, we beg you to protect and defend us in all our struggles against everyday temptations in this world. Help us to overcome all evils and strengthen us, that we may declare our faith in and loyalty to the Most High so that together with all the angels and saints in heaven we may glorify the Lord. St. Michael please intercede for us together with the Blessed Virgin Mary, and obtain for us the following requests… Present to God, the Father of all petitions through Jesus Christ, our Lord together with the Holy Spirit forever and ever, Amen.

I beg you to assist us in all our undertakings and in all the trials and pains of this earthly life. We pray for constant good health both physically, mentally and spiritually. We beseech you to guide always our steps that we shall walk with confidence towards our journey, and enlighten us with our doubts generated by intellectual pride and worldly ambitions.
