After my mother finished listening to her 60s and 70s music, I played my own CD to our player. It is a collection of dance hits of the 80s!
I really love those songs! I am not a dancer though but I love to dance. I love September, Souvenir, Nothing’s Gonna Keep Me From You (My Love), Chilly Cha Cha and Rico Mambo.
Cha-cha is our clan’s favorite dance.
When we are younger, my sisters, our cousins and me love dancing Cha-cha. My paternal cousin Catherine and my sister Pauline are the family dancers. When we get together, it will not be complete if we’ll not dance together. Aside from dancing Chilly Cha-cha, Cathy’s favorite dance is Rico Mambo!
My mother and my tita Evelyn always tell her that when she’s just 4 years old, she would often ask her mother to play Rico Mambo so she could dance.
This is the popular inmates of Cebu dancing Rico Mambo
When my sisters and I spend our summer vacation in Quezon then, we always attend the “Sayawan” which is part of the celebration of the barrio’s fiesta.
It really makes me smile while reminiscing those days.
We have our own lives and own families now. In fact, we seldom see each other already.
At home, I make it a point to have a “dance session” with my daughter (who always notices my chest acne!). We dance to the tunes of the latest dance craze today and my favorite dance songs. It is one of our bonding moments.
I can tell that my daughter will be a very good singer like me! Hehehe! But, I know that she will also enjoy dancing like I do.
Ciao!
