Pizza for Lunch

family No Comments »

Last Sunday, my mother, sisters and Nonet went to hear mass and didn’t leave the key to our house. So, I stayed in my cousins’ house which is just 2 doors away from ours. :) It was a fine day. The sun was up and finally got a rest from the rainy week. Well, I just thought so.

After an hour, my family arrived. My sister and Nonet went to our cousins’ house as well and we chat for a while. Then, we decided to order pizza for lunch. :)

Pizza Hut’s promo is that your pizza is free is they don’t deliver it on time. After placing our order, one of the customer service representatives called me to confirm our order and was told that the pizza will be delivered at 1:05 PM. And, so we waited.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Then the fine weather that I thought will last was turned to a gloomy rainy afternoon. The heavy rain fell at around 12:45PM. I waited near the entrance of our compound for the pizza delivery but it didn’t arrive at 1:05. We called the customer service at around 1:22PM and was told that the pizza will absolutely be free of charge. Then a minute later, my mother called us because the pizza has arrived. I told the delivery man that since he is 20 minutes late, then the pizza should be free. Well, I pity the man because I know that it will affect him. We just decided to take his offer for a free family size pan pizza yet we would still pay the first 2 pizzas we have ordered. For us it is still a win-win situation.
Good thing, we are greedy and our family has a kind heart.

We really enjoyed eating our lunch! Of course, we best drink to pair it with, Coca Cola! :)

Ciao! :)

Fixers still Exist

Honey and I decided to go to old DFA building for his NBI Clearance authentication last Friday, August 3. I did a research on how to get there and what to do when we get there. We took G-Liner bus bound to Quiapo and got off at Manila City Hall. We passed through the under pass and took a jeep ride bound to Baclaran. We asked the driver to drop us at DFA. It was a long ride.

In the jeep, there are two other passengers bound to DFA. One is an older woman. And the other is a young man. When the driver called that we arrived at DFA, we got off the jeepney and we checked which way to go to DFA. Out of no-where, a man who is about 6ft tall came along beside us. He was carrying a passport and other paraphernalia. He asked us if we will have our documents be authenticated. We said yes. Honey tried to talk to the man and asked about the process of Authentication. He seemed nice and friendly.

On our way to DFA, I prayed that God will guide and help us. Then, we passed by a picture of Our Lady of Manaoag and I prayed to Mama Mary as well. When I was reading the steps on how to process the “red ribbon” for documents, it is clearly stated that one will go directly to DFA office and look for a window that says “Authentication.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Well, we followed the man who walked with us and we’re headed to a red building. We went upstairs and we entered a room where we were welcomed by a man. The man who walked with us showed his receipts to the other man in the said office and presented his receipt. Then he showed us his certification which has been authenticated. Of course the red ribbon is there.

I am just silent and observing. I know then that something is not right. I looked around trying to find DFA signage but didn’t find any. Honey handed the copy of his NBI clearance to the man who welcomed us. The man said that he is from Gumaca Quezon. It is the town next to ours. I was talking to myself and waited until the man tells us the fee. I know how much the fee for regular processing authentication and express processing. Regular processing cost Php 100 while express cost Php 200.

Then the hint I was waiting for has come. The man said that the processing fee would cost Php 700 and it is just regular processing. Immediately, I grabbed the NBI clearance of honey and stood up. We told the man that our money is not enough and we need to withdraw some money. I left the room immediately, and called honey to follow me quickly. We got out of the building as fast as we could. Outside a tricycle is already waiting and we were dropped off in front of DFA gate. Since, I have no business to do inside; I was not allowed to enter. I waited for honey at the DFA’s exit for an hour. He only paid Php100 for regular processing fee.

I really felt bad about the young man and the old woman whom we shared the jeep ride earlier. But, I tried to do good deed when someone asked me where DFA entrance is. I provided the woman the direction and firmly said to go straight to DFA entrance and do not entertain fixers.

On our way home, honey told me that it is a good thing that I was quick. He said that he didn’t have any clue. Well, I told him that I read and I pray. :)  Thank you, Lord. Thank you Mama Mary.

Ciao! :)

Professionalism should always remains

One of the requirements that the agency asked honey is to have his NBI clearance be authenticated. About two years ago, when he had his Driver’s license authenticated, we filed it through DFA’s Office of Consular Affairs in Roxas Boulevard.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Thinking that the authentication is still done in the said building, I accompanied honey to the said office then. If my recollection is correct, we entered DFA’s gate 3. At the gate, we asked the security guard in charge how to go about authenticating NBI Clearance. He said that the authentication will be done in DFA’s old building. I asked honey if he knows how to go to the old DFA building. He said no.

So since, honey doesn’t know how to go there, neither I know. I asked the security how to go there. And this is how he replied to my question. Note, I asked him with politely and with respect.

Security Guard: “magtaxi kayo para hindi kayo maligaw. Eh hindi nyo pala alam. Magtaxi kayo.”

To be honest, umakyat talaga ang dugo ko sa ulo ko. And, I turned back to him with a very serious face and I asked him again with conviction.  I guess he knows that what he responded made me angry already. Then he said that old DFA building is in Libertad. From the Consular Office, we can take a bus ride going to Libertad. Then I told him, “Thank you. Ganyan ang pag sagot kuya.”

Then we left. I still have a lot to say to that security guard but honey pulled me over. He knew already that if we will not leave soon, I will be asking for the security guards manager or higher officer. For I know when to be patient and when to ask for a manager so his or her subordinates will be disciplined.

He may be one of the security guards in DFA but he should still be professional at all times. Since he insulted us for not knowing how to go to old DFA building, I would want to ask him if he knows how to setup a network and VPN; if he knows how to identify no POST from no video issue in a computer.  I was really mad at him. I wanted to say more and would like to belittle him, but I am not really that kind of person. I cannot do that.

Too bad, I wasn’t able to get neither his name nor the security agency he is from. I didn’t get the chance because honey wanted me out of the scene as soon as possible.

I know that not all security guards are like him. It was just a very disappointing experiencing. Honey and I were even dressed up fine. Since we are going to a government office, we are both presentable and neat. I know that I carry myself fine and I talked to them cheerfully, politely and with respect. Yet the said security guard maybe left his manners and professionalism somewhere. :(

I hope that other people may not have the same experience we had. And I hope that whoever manages the security personnel in DFA’s Consular Affairs Office will look into this incident and will install to professionalism and courtesy to their staff strongly.

Ciao! :)

A Date @ Galleria

family No Comments »

I went to DFA last Friday for my passport appointment. At the same time, honey went to the agency who will send him off to Qatar for his medical schedule. As much as possible honey just wanted to go to nearby country or down under to Australia and New Zealand or up in the north, Canada. However, maybe it isn’t the right time yet. He doesn’t want to go back to Saudi Arabia so he accepted the offer going to Qatar.

After fulfilling our own appointments that day, we met at Robinson’s Galleria for lunch. We had lunch in Chowking and stroll around the mall for a while. :)

We learned then that Side A band will have a mall show that day at 6PM. I have always like Side A and their songs. I have grown up with their songs. Singing their songs in videoke machine and playing their songs in my playlist. :)

It was just 2 o’clock in the afternoon then. We decided to go home to rest for a while. Nonet’s classes were suspended that day due to the bad weather, but we found it blessing in disguise because we can bring Nonet with us. :)

We left our house at around 5:30 in the afternoon. Galleria is just about 15 minutes away from Rosario if there’s no traffic. :) We arrived at the mall just in time. The show is just starting and we found a good position at the mall’s third floor facing the activity area.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We really enjoy the show. Side A’s lead vocalist Joey G has never lost his charm. His voice still captures the heart of the fans. Truly, Side A’s songs are immortal. :)

After the show, we let Nonet play at Tom’s World. Honey and I also had fun playing in there. ? We had our dinner at Bacolod’s Chicken Inasal where Nonet and I satiate our hunger with chicken inasal and pork barbecue. Honey enjoyed the Sinigang Salmon Belly which he ordered. :)

Since it is already past rush hour, we didn’t have difficulty going home.  It was a really a fun day for us. Honey will be leaving soon to work overseas again and we try to enjoy every moment that we are together. God bless our family. :)

A Passport for Me :)

It's my Life No Comments »

After many attempts of getting a passport, I finally have a passport being process. ? The estimated date of delivery will be on August 10, 2012. :)

When I was younger I had a “palm reading” session with Atie. She said that the lines on my palm tell that I may not be going out of the country. I cannot remember anymore if I will not be able to go overseas to work or I may not be able to go out of the country at all.

When I was still at Link2Support, I had attempted to get a passport but I wasn’t able to do it. When DFA launched the appointment system for new passport application, I also setup an appointment with them. However, on my scheduled date I wasn’t able to come for some reasons. :(

Last April, I filed for another appointment scheduled on June 18. I did go to DFA then, only to find out that the appointment I have printed out is a duplicate application. When the verifier scanned bar code on my appointment, it showed a different name. In other words, I wasn’t able to file my application for passport.
When I got home, I filed for another appointment. This time, I made sure that I am printing the correct application. Last July 20, I reported to DFA and finally I was able to process my passport application. :)

Sometimes, I ponder about the career I have today. Looking back, maybe I didn’t plan my life, or I guess I don’t really have a plan at all. I took up Computer Engineering because computers are very in demand during that time. I needed to have a job right away because I need to support my family and send my younger sister to college. I wanted to be an Accountant; I have always wanted to be a CPA. Yet, I ended up being a Computer Engineering grad. An Engineer by profession, but to be honest, I am not really happy about it. However, I was able to help my sisters finished college and continuously support my family to these days being in this profession.

Maybe that is one of the reasons why I didn’t really have any career path. Maybe because I started out with taking a college course that wasn’t really my choice, that’s why I was not interested in planning my life. What was important to me then, was I earn money and I am able to support my family.

Now that I am in my thirties, I am trying to catch up with my “life planning.” This time, it is not only my family that matters, but more importantly, I have a daughter who depends on me. I have a partner who depends and gets inspiration from me.

Since, I have applied for a passport I now have plans of going abroad; working overseas. Although I am having second thoughts about it but who knows. :)

I may have not planned my life well, but I might not have Nonet if I did. And, even if I wasn’t able to formulate a career and life plans in earlier in my life, I still believe, that there is Someone up there, who knows the best and will give the best for me. :)

Ciao! :)

Cheers @ 2!

I can still remember how our baby Tika went through a long labor when she is about to give birth to her first kittens. It was 2 years ago. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

New born kittens with Tika

Tika’s first kitten is Baby Chi-Chi. We named him after Patty’s cat Chi-chi (Chichiriko). We had Chi-chi for about 9 years until he finally said goodbye to his mama Patty in March of 2010. He was confined at PAWS’ clinic and he must have died in his sleep. My sister and I really cried because of its death. Baby Chi-chi though is sweet unlike their uncle Chi-Chi. On the other hand, my cat Chaka had been with us for 8 years, until he breathed his last in February 2011.  Chaka was the nicest and politest cat we ever had. I really had a heartbreak when he died. Maybe that’s the reason why Tika’s first born got Chi-Chi’s looks and Chaka’s behavior. :) Baby Chi-chi was born on July 2, 2010.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tiki is Tika’s second kitten. She came a day after Baby Chi-Chi was born. We needed to massage Tika’s tummy and did a little push to help her give birth. I often call Tiki as “ate” since she is the eldest female kitten born. :) We thought that Tika will only have 2 kittens so we named Tiki after her mom. :)

Tiki and Mama Cat Tika

Then few minutes later, the third kitten was born. :) We couldn’t think of any names when we remembered, Barbie’s cat’s name in her movie, The Three Musketeers. We named the third kitten as Miyette. :) Her nickname is Mimi. :)

Miyette

Happy 2nd birthday to you babies. In cat years they are already 25 years old. :)

Our neighbors may not understand our love for you but we will be here to fight for you. :)

We love you!

A Kitten behind the Wall

Animal Lover No Comments »

I was very anxious when I heard the cries of a kitten inside our house. The cries seems to come from the roof but not quite. Its cries made me so worried for if we will not be able to find it, it may die of starvation. I went to my cousins’ apartment which is on a second floor. They have a window facing our roof. From there, I would be able to see if the said kitten is trapped somewhere. To may dismay, it isn’t there. :(

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I went back home and I told my aunt about it. We can still hear the loud cries from the kitten which slowly fading. I couldn’t do any chores because I worry about it. I know, one way or another it needs to be rescued. But how? Where could it be? In one corner of our house, we store Nonet’s stroller, our stuff toys, my collections of angels and other stuff. The cries came from there. I listened to the wall near it and I know that the kitten is behind it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So I prayed to God and asked St. Anthony de Padua and St. Francis of Assisi’s help; for us to find a way or ways on how to rescue the kitten. But, I knew then that we might need to bore a whole or cut a piece of wood from the wall to rescue it. But, God has helped me to find a way to rescue the poor kitten. I was checking the said wall and trying to trace which part we are going to cut. We need to be careful because the saw might harm the kitten. To my surprise, I found a piece of wood that has not been nailed properly. I know that I can pull it out and would be able to get the kitten. :) And so I did. :) Thank God! Thank you St. Anthony and St. Francis. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The kitten was finally rescued. :) Her mother was patiently waiting on the roof above that wall. When I placed the kitten on her side, she recognized her kitten and brought it to their place. :)

I was very happy and grateful.

Ylea’s House of Dogs and Cats

Animal Lover No Comments »

Hopefully someday (very soon) we will have one.. :) I usually checked PAWS website for new updates regarding rescued animals and fur friends which finally found their family and forever home. I checked on paws’ web gallery through Picasso and was really inspired with Lola Mely.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

PAWS staff and vets went to Balaoan, La Union where the Lola Mely’s House of Dogs is located for spaying and neutering. I was really amazed with the love, patience and care Lola Mely give her dogs. You bet, her dogs are aspins. :) I did a little research about Lola Mely and found out that she was a retired nurse. I was getting goosebumps while I was reading an article about her from http://www.mb.com.ph/node/338565/lola-mely-canine-caregiver. In spite of the many animal abuses we learn on the news,  I am happy to know people like her whose love for animals cannot be weathered. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I pray to God that Lola Mely will have good health and will have long life. There are still a lot of people who should meet her and be inspired by her. (Pictures from PAWS)

God bless you Lola Mely. God bless your dogs. God bless PAWS.

Our new baby!

Animal Lover, It's my Life No Comments »

Well, adopted baby I guess. :) Honey got a female black Chow-chow puppy about three weeks ago. He loves dogs and wanted to be a breeder. Their family got number of dogs which include aspins, poodle, shitzu and a pug which they named Bonita. :) He wanted to get a dog which he can call his own, so we went first to Aranque market in Manila. There are different breeds of dogs and cats and rabbits, pigeons and hens. He was interested in getting a Labrador puppy but he was not quite sure if the said puppy is pure breed. The vendor does not have any paper for the said dog. We forgot to go to Cartimar market in Pasay so we found our way to Tiendesitas’ Pet Village. :)

Of course, there are different breeds available and since they are beautiful puppies, honey had a hard time choosing which breed to get. We went from one store to another. I really cannot help but to admire the beauty of these dogs. :) I also checked the cute cats in store. :)

Finally, honey fell in love with a black female chow-chow. She is very charming and very beautiful. Truly, black is beautiful. :) She is a pure breed Chow-Chow with paper from AKCUPI (Asian Kennel Club Union of the Philippines Inc.). :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The vendor gave us a traveling cage for her and put on her diapers. We made sure that she would have enough water to drink since it’s going to be a 6-hour drive to Quezon. Yes, honey will take her to Quezon. As much as I wanted her with us, Nonet has allergies with dogs. Our house is too small to have her. Ney’s house in Quezon is big and it has a big yard, too. Aside from that, ney’s mother will be able to look after her and take good care of her when honey leaves again to work abroad.

Though Nonet has allergies to dog, our daughter still loves dogs. She is not afraid of them but she is cautious because of her allergies. We know that Nonet will be happy if she can say hello to chow-chow (which Nonet calls Din-Din) before it goes to her new and forever home. :)

I brought our little chow-chow home and showed it to Nonet, my mother and my sisters. My sisters and I are animal lovers. So they are so happy to her as well. Then, I brought her back to honey’s car ready for her trip to Quezon.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Honey said that our little baby is doing fine. She knows that honey is her “dad”. He sleeps on a cage in ney’s room. :) He said that Din-din cries when she does not see honey around during the first few days of her stay in their house. But now, she is very comfortable and happy in her home. :)

When we got her paper, we learned that her mother is a red chow-chow and her father is a cream chow-chow. How come she is black? Well, her great great great maternal grand father is an American black chow-chow. :)

Ney and I were talking about two days ago, and we both wanted to have a house of our own with a big lawn. We both wanted to get a Labrador puppy someday. Of course, I do not forget the many dogs and cats who needs forever home from PAWS. :)

I hope and pray that God will bless us and would turn our dreams into reality. :)

Ciao! :)

Swimming in the Rain!

family, Places No Comments »

It is our rainy season already. Yet, we spent an overnight stay in a resort in Taytay, Rizal for a swimming and another family bonding. :)

Ney had their family car, overhauled and for a break-in, he used it when he visited me and Nonet about two weeks ago. Honey is not familiar with the different places around the Metro, so he had her uncle drive for him. Our house is small and there is no place for kuya Jojo to sleep, that’s why we decided to stay in a resort.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We stayed a Villa Valera in Taytay Rizal. We occupied one of the rooms. We will be staying for a day. My youngest sister Pauline came with us. While my mother, followed in the afternoon.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Pau, Nonet and mama enjoyed the pool so much. It was drizzling when we arrived and the cool wind blows but the water in the pool in warm. That’s why they enjoyed swimming. I didn’t get to enjoy the pool so much because I took care of honey. When he is in Quezon, he tends to drink wine and beer all the time. Of course, I hated it.

Even though, I was not able to enjoy the warm pool, I just took advantage of our stay there to relax. I took advantage of the time I spent with honey. :)

Family Bonding @ the North

family No Comments »

Honey bought a new printer for himself. It’s a Canon printer. Canon has a promo that if you buy a certain printer model and an ink, you will either get a bag (which I forgot the brand) and an Esprit watch. :) The said items can be redeemed at Canon outlet in Megamall or in SM North EDSA.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

For a change, we decided to claim our gifts at SM North EDSA. Honey and the kids also wanted an MRT ride, too. From Rosario, we took a cab going to MRT-EDSA Shaw station. We waited for the train going to North EDSA station. We were standing at first. Nonet and Ikay were able to seat from Ortigas Station. It was a comfortable ride. The air-con is cold and there are no traffic. We also enjoyed sight seeing. :)

We got off at North EDSA station. We crossed Trinoma Mall going to SM North EDSA. We claimed first our gift from Canon, which is an Esprit watch then had our lunch at Jolibee. I wanted to eat in a restaurant but the kids wanted Jolibee. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After lunch, we let them played at Candy Factory. Surely they enjoyed the 30-minute play in this huge playground. Nonet wanted to try the tall slide but she is not allowed yet. She’s only six. The staff only allows children seven years and above. She just settled going through the obstacles and playing with the plastic balls. Her cousin Ikay was lucky enough to having tried the giant slide. I am glad that Nonet and Ikay enjoyed it.

Ney and I just sat on the bench near it while we wait for the kids. When the 30-minute time is over, we decided to go home. We passed Trinoma again going to MRT. We had a donut (and a cup of coffee for me) at Mister Donut for snacks. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

From North EDSA station we got off at EDSA Shaw station. We went to Shangri-La’s taxi bay and took a cab going home.

It was an amazing day. I know that Nonet and Ikay enjoyed our pasyal. I know also that Ikay will treasure that day in her heart. Well, I am looking forward to more family bonding. When honey leaves for abroad again, it would be another 2-year contract. So we are spending quality time with each other as many hours as we can.

Ciao! :)

Celebrating my 31st Birthday!

It's my Life 1 Comment »

Since honey is on vacation from working abroad, he was here with me when I celebrated my birthday. It’s been a while since I celebrated my birthday with him.

We planned of hearing mass at Antipolo Cathedral. But since he was tired and my daughter was still sleepy, we just decided to hear the 12Noon mass at EDSA Shrine. It doesn’t matter which church we will go, what matters is I was able to hear mass and received blessings on my birthday. :)

After the mass, we went to Robinson’s Galleria, so Nonet and Ikay can play at Tom’s World. We had an earlier plan of going to SM Mall of Asia, but due to a not so good weather that day, we decided to enjoy at Tom’s World instead. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The kids enjoy playing at Tom’s World. Honey bought them ample of tokens. They also rode on the mini rides available there. Surely, the enjoyed the rides! Honey also bought us T-Shirt. :)

We left the mall mid-afternoon, so we will not be caught by the rush hours and the possible rain.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

At home, my mother cooked pansit, fried chicken and relyenong bangus. :) Honey also bought me a birthday cake. My sisters commented that relyenong bangus is always present on my birthday. :) You bet it’s my favorite! :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I am happy and thankful. Honey and I may have so many differences but maybe my prayers are now working. :)

Thank you Lord for another year and for many years to come! :)

Ciao! :)
