My God

I have always love musical movies. I have grow up watching The Sound of Music. I remember when I was a kid, the said movie used to be played in Philippine TV Channel 13 during Christmas holiday. I remember buying a cassette tape of the movie’s sound track!

When I started working and earned extra money, I bought a CD copy of the said movie. My mother, my sisters and I still love watching it. :)  When Nonet arrived, and turned 3, we have her watch it, too.

In the recent year,  we have all come to love Sister Act, Enchanted and High School Musicals to name a few.

I have love the songs from the movie Sister Act but I have not actually seen completed watching the movie. About a month ago I bought a copy of the said movie. And, I love it! I was amazed on how a simple and ordinary song can be a song of praise and dedication to Jesus.

My favorite songs from the said movie are Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I Will Follow Him and My God (My Guy). If you could listen to the song My Guy, every line is something that a Christian should live by. I am guilty though, that I sometimes do not obey my obligations as a Christian. But, I am trying to be one. It takes a lot of prayer and prayer to do that. :)

Hope you enjoy the video below which I got from youtube (uploaded by Sovranita on June 21, 2008). :)

What is it with Bumblebee?

movies No Comments »

As part of the work balance culture, our company has, we have been given free tickets to watch Transformers 3 at Eastwood Cinemas. I haven’t watch Transformers 1 and 2 and to be honest, I do not have any intention of watching the movie either. I decided to give my ticket to my friend Pam, who planned to bring her kids along. Anyway, I ended up keeping my ticet, for our viewing schedule is different from Pam’s team. It’s a good thing that one of my teammates will not be watching the movie, I decided to bring Nonet to her first movie at the theater. :)

Even if Transformers is not the kind of movie I would watch, I really enjoyed watching it. It’s a good thing that I did watch the movie. I love it. I may have not watche the first two installments of Transformers, but I was able to grasp the idea of the movie. It was really worth watching! :)

Alright, since that was the first movie that my daughter will be seeing in the bigscreen, she was given a heads up of what to see, what to expect as well as do’s and dont’s inside the cinema by my sister Patty. Well, Transformers is a 3-hour movie. At first, Nonet tried to make herself comfortable by eating popcorn and drinking soda. As the movie started, she asked me to carry her as she started asking questions about the movie. Then, she decided to sit on her own chair again and started on my popcorn. She felt bored during the middle part of the story that she asked me to carry her again because she is sleepy. Well, she didn’t fall asleep. I asked her to drink soda again. Hehehe! As the end of the movie is approaching, I found her sitting upright and focused on the movie.

When the movie ended, the viewers gave it a round of applause and so did Nonet. As we leave the movie house, she was asked me to buy her Bumblebee. Bumblebee really made a mark on her. She didn’t care whether Optimus Prime is stronger and bigger than Bee.

I wonder what is it with Bumblebee that captured the heart of my daughter.  I guess even if Bumblebee is a robot perse, he has a heart. Inspite of his being a metal and iron, he has a heart. I was really touch and near crying, when Bee was about to be destroyed by one of the Decepticons who captured them. I was touched, how Sam Witwicky cried as he watched his friend nearing its end.

Bumblebee made us all laugh at the end of the movie, when he dropped several “rings” and hummed a wedding march as Sam and his girlfriend were reunited. :)

Since, I was at Megamall last Saturday already, I decided to check Transformers at Toy Kingdom. My daughter is only five years old only and I thought of getting her a diecast model of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. I also bought her a small “robot” version (sorry for my terms. I just don’t know the right words to use.. :P ) of Bumblebee. According to the label it is very easy to assemble and to transform into car and into robot. :)

My daughter was delighted of course. I told her that she can play with the Bee and Optimus diecast, but we’ll just keep the robot one on display. I told her that when she’s older, then she can play with it as well. :)

Oh, don’t get me wrong. My daughter is not a tomboy. She just enjoy playing cars and robots but she plays Barbie and dolls more often. :)

Well, she is looking forward to another movie that we will be watching. I might take her to Harry Potter 7 Part 2, since she has been watching Harry Potter DVD with us always. :)

Ciao! :)

Letters to Juliet

movies 1 Comment »

We watched Letters to Juliet this Sunday morning on DVD. At first, I didn’t want to watch the movie for I thought that it was one of the books written by Nicholas Sparks. I have nothing against Nicholas, it’s just that, when I watch a certain film I want something that will provide relaxation and not a teary eye in the end. :)

Well, my two younger sisters insisted to watch it and so, I didn’t have any choice but to watch with them. Amanda Seyfried is one of the lead stars of the said movie. Most of the scenes were shot in Italy. Oh, how I love the scenery in Italy! Added to it are the lovely a designer furniture they offer! :) . Well, Sophie and her fiance’, Victor would supposedly have a pre-honeymoon trip in Verona, Italy. However, it turned out to be more on a business trip for Victor who will be opening an Italian restaurant in New York.

While Victor is away for a business trip, Sophie came accross a house which is called Casa di Giulietta. The house is claimed to be the Capulet’s. Below the famous balcony, is a wall called Juliet’s Wall, where letters are stick from different woman and girls in Italy and from those who purposely visit the place to send their letters about love to Juliet.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sophie found a letter that was stuck into one of the walls stones. It was written about 50 years ago. The letter is read as:

I didn’t go to him, Juliet. I didn’t go to Lorenzo. His eyes were so full of trust I promised I’d meet him and run away together because my parents don’t approve. But, instead, I left him waiting for me below our tree – waiting and wondering where I was. I’m in Veronoa now. I return to London in the morning and I am so afraid. Please, Juliet tell me what I should do. My heart is breaking and I have no one else to turn to. Love, Claire

Since, Sophie found the letter, somehow she is obliged to reply to it. She knew that her letter might not reach the hands of Claire. However, she believed that it is still worth trying. She wrote to Claire as secretary of Juliet:

Dear Claire, What and If are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What if? What if? What if? I don’t know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love, then it’s never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn’t it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I don’t know what a love like Juliet’s feels like – love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for but I’d like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I will have the courage to seize it. And, Claire, if you didn’t, I hope one day that you will. All my love, Juliet

To cut the beautiful movie short, Claire was able to find and married her Lorenzo after 50 years with the help of Sophie. Sophie ended up in the arms of Claire’s grandson, Charlie. :)

It was really a beautiful movie. A love story that would definitely inspire many people to love and never give up on love. :)

You bet, it’s now one of my favorite movies. :)

So Close… Yet So Far…

movies No Comments »

I just love the movie Enchanted and the song.. Just enjoy the music. :) If you can relate, well just be happy and contented of who you are with right now.. :)

So Close (Jon McLaughlin)

You’re in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I’m with you
So close to feeling alive

A life goes by
Romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
And now you’re beside me and look how far we’ve come
So far we are so close

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We’re so close
To reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let’s go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

Hakuna Matata

movies No Comments »

I am browsing You Tube for I am looking for a song that I heard in the grocery this morning. Instead of finding the said song, I ended up finding this video by Timon and Pumbaa. I first heard this song when we watch The Lion King in 1994. I just loved the song! If you would listen attentively to its lyrics it is a very encouraging song. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Wikipedia said that; “Hakuna matata is a Swahili phrase that is literally translated as “There are no worries”. It is sometimes translated as “no worries”, although is more commonly used similarly to the English phrase “no problem”.

I know that most of us worried about a lot of things. Even acne and pimples give us worries! Well, my friend told me to read about proactiv and hopefully that would help my pimple concern. In any case I would want you to enjoy this video. I believe that we should not worry that much, we have God who is bigger that all of our problems. :) Enjoy!

New Moon at South Mall

lifestyle, movies, My Books 2 Comments »

As part of our bonding session, Daisy, Ime and I decided to watch New Moon. Oh how I love to see the movie. I have the 4 books already but I can’t help watching New Moon on big screen. I found Robert Pattinson who played Edward, very good looking! :) I like the chemistry between him and Kristen Stewart who played Bella. :)

We arrived at SM South Mall 20 minutes before the next viewing schedule. After buying our tickets, we went ahead and bought popcorn from Chef Tony’s. Then we headed our way to cinema 3. Daisy and I bought sodas while Ime settled for mineral water. We’re just in time to get into the cinema. After settling on our chosen seat, we prepared ourselves in watching New Moon. :)

As what promised, the Twilight Saga’s New Moon movie has been loyal to the book. Oh how loved the way they showed how Jacob and the rest of the Quilette’s boys shifted into a huge wolves. I loved the Italy scene where Bella is about to save Edward from making a scene. Oh, I am pretty sure you know what I am talking about! :) I can’t wait ‘til June, 2010 when Eclipse will be shown. :)

After the movie, I asked if Daisy enjoyed watching it. She said that if we didn’t tell her the story of Twilight, she would not be able to appreciate New Moon. But since we’re able to do some story telling before watching the movie, she was able to enjoy watching New Moon.

We had some pictures taken before Edward, Jacob and Bella’s posters! We also stroll around the mall for a while. We also passed by a sports house and found a Kettlebell very useful for workout. :)

I really enjoyed the time spent with my friends. Oh how I miss them so much. Our other friend Pinky said to schedule another get together before Christmas. We asked Ime to file another vacation leave, because the 3 of us have common rest days, Saturday and Sunday.

Angel loves French Fries!

Angels around us, movies 4 Comments »

Well, I guess only in movies. :) I have not collecting angel stuff yet when I first seen this movie. I was in grade school, still. I haven’t watch the movie in cinema, for this movie was released in theaters sometime in 1987. I was only 6 years old then! :) Even at a young age, I have love angels already. Date with an Angel, is one of my all-time favorite movies. The story is about an angel who fell from heaven to take Jim Sanders soul back to heaven. Well, check the plot synopsis here.

Date with an Angel

Emmanuel Beart played the angel. While Phoebe Cates played the fiancee of Jim Sanders (played by Michael Knight). One of my favorite scenes in the movie was when Jim’s buddies, kidnapped her using a french fries as a bait. Oh, how she loves french fries! :)

Emmanuelle Beart

Emmanuelle Beart an the Angel

Well, even though she’s an angel, they still ended up together. What happened? Well, you’ve got to see the movie! :)

Cast of Date with an Angel

Angels and Demons

In the News, movies No Comments »

It was a busy day for me yesterday. It’s not quite a regular off for me, though. I reported to work for our scheduled work on restday. Actually, I really have no plans of rendering WORD yesterday but my mother keeps on bugging me about it so I went to the office. It was just a half day word so, time flew fast that I hadn’t notice that it’s time to go.  Afterwork, I decided to join my friends and colleagues in watching the movie, Angels and Demons. I have seen the Da Vinci Code and I’m curious about the story of this one.

I remember my sister, Patty, telling me one time that she’s really excited about the movie. She read the book and she can’t imagine how they will make the book into a movie. Anyway, we arrived at SM Megamall at around 2PM (I guess :) ). We ate our lunch at Chef Donatello. We enjoyed our pizza at pasta lunch! :)   We headed our way to the movie house and waited til the movie started.

I admit it, at first, I don’t seem to understand the movie! :( I even sent a text message to my sister Patty and told her that I’m watching Angels and Demons already, and I can’t seem to understand it. Well, she replied to my text with a mocking and laughing message :) ! Anyway, I focused and paid full attention to the movie until I slowly getting it gist.

At the end of the story, I sent another text message to my sister again and told her that I understood it. I was getting goosebumps while watching the movie. I even cried at some parts of the movie. I am a Catholic and I will stick to my faith no matter what.

I will not deliberately tell what happened to the movie. There was a lot of information, places and names that I cannot remember. But what is important is that how the movie affected my life and my faith. Well, watching the movie and I guess even reading the novel itself will not shake my faith a bit. Like other religions, Catholic faith is not flawless. Over the years, a lot of non-believers have tried to ruin and run over this faith.

But then, what really matters is that my faith and my love to one true God will not be moved by any movies or stories as such.

Twilight Cars

In the News, movies 2 Comments »

I had been lazy blogging this past few days. I don’t know if it’s the weather that made me feel that way or my work. I don’t have the same enthusiam before. :( Anyway, I found an inspiration in sharing my thoughts with you again after I finished reading New Moon. I guess I got so attached with Bella’s heartache that’s why I somehow lost energy in writing.

Like Twilight, the book 2 of Twilight Saga will be in film and would be in theaters sometime in November, 2009. Ofcourse, I intend to watch it in movie house this time :) As I browse the net to look for more information about the upcoming film, I found a very interesting site, For me it is a very informative site especially for Twilight fans! :)

But among the beautiful facts that the site presented, I liked the best its article about the  cars “used” in the novel. According to the site:

Stephenie has a very clear idea of what the cars in her novels look like. Here are the exact models the characters own according to Stephenie’s official website.
If you always wondered why she decided to choose certain cars for her characters just read the descriptions of the cars. We are starting to believe this is no coincidence ;) .

Note: These cars might be different than the ones used for the movie, but these are the originals Stephenie had in mind when she wrote the book.

The article is entitled The Cullen Cars

In Twilight

Bella's car

1953, Chevrolet Pickup truck

This is Isabella Marie Swan’s car. It was Charlie’s “homecoming” present for her the day she arrives in Forks from Arizona.
Features: Despite being an old, cheap car the truck has it’s own unique charm and personality, like most old fashioned cars do. It might not have the coolest and newer applications around, but it’s very strong and resistant thanks to its chrome bumper that can protect the owner of almost any crash.

Edward Cullen's car

Volvo S60 R

This is Edward Cullen’s car.
Features: It’s a luxury sports car. According to Forbes, Volvo is the number one maker of luxurious. What defines this car the most is its reliability. It’s been defined as one of the safest cars ever manufactured, and Forbes even named it “Best among all cars”. It’s also a car for those who like to speed in the safest way possible.

Rosalie Cullen's car

BMW M3 convertible

This one’s Rosalie Cullen’s car.
Features: The BMW made sure that this was one of the hottest cars ever launched fo the company. It’s a luxury compact executive car. The BMW defines this car as “a car with unique geometry”. It has a motorsport engine used in racing programs, and it’s highly powerful. It’s a high performance car and it has the most agressive aerodynamics that had ever been used for a car. It’s a best selling automobile, according to the BMW and it has won several awards, especially for its powerplants.

Carlisle Cullen's car

Mercedes S55 AMG

This is Dr. Carlisle Cullen’s car. Very classic car that really suits Carlisle. :)
Features: Being a creation from the Mercedes Benz company, this is a highly expenssive luxurious car. The Mercedes Benz refers to cars like these as “Special Class Car”. It was designed for high performances and it has tons of safety features. However, the most defining features of a car like this is its classic elegance and its modernity. Mostly everything on this car can be controlled through audio, thanks to the Linguatronic Voice recognition system which controls audio, navigation and even cellphone calls.

Emmett Cullen's car

Jeep Wrangler

This one is owned by Emmett Cullen.
This is an off road vehicle, sucesor of the World War II Jeep. It’s extremely powerful, strong and resistant. However, it’s fairly comfortable. It has a galvanized body, wider wheelbase and less ground clearance. It has 8 inch wheels wide, high back seats, off road gas shocks, power steering, fog lamps and extra capacity fuel tank. Plus, it’s fully wrapped in leather. The perfect vehicle for adventures.

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

This is the car used by Edward on their prom night.

In New Moon

Jacob Black's car

Volkswagen Rabbit

This one is Jacob Black’s car. In the novel, Jacob put an effort to “rebuild” this car.
Features: Despite being a very old model, it’s highly respected. It has a nice performance and it’s fairly cheap. It’s successor of cars like the Golf.

Alice Cullen's car

Porsche 911 Turbo

This is the car used by Alice Cullen when she and Bella went to Volterra City (in Tuscany, Italy) to save Edward from pissing off the Volturis. This is also the same car that Alice would want to have “legally” which Edward promised to give her on Christmas.
Features: It’s a sports car especially designed for legal street racing. It’s extremely powerful, since it features a Turbo charger for its performance and speed. The company defines this car as created for “exhilarating acceleration”. It’s exclusive, therefore it’s very rare and extremely expenssive. It’s design is distinctive and very durable. However it was named the most fatal car ever. It’s extremely dangerous to drive a vehicle like this and most of its features are illegal in certain parts of the world, especially where street racing is illegal.

Well, hope you enjoy it as much as I do. ‘Til then. :)

Crazy about Barbie: The Island Princess

Little Antoinette, lyric sheet, movies No Comments »

My daughter has a new favorite movie. She watches Barbie, The Island Princess devotedly everyday! Sometimes, even twice a day! :) She loves the animals in the film. She adores the baby elephant named Tika. She also likes Azul, the peacock, the Sagi, a red panda and the dolphins.  She also enjoys singing the songs in it! Sometimes, I hear my self singing the songs also! :)

Barbie in The Island Princess

Nonet’s favorite songs from the movie are Right Here In My Arms,  I Need to Know and  Always More. So, I may be able to sing the whole songs with here, I did some lyric search and luckily, I found them! :)

Right Here in My Arms is something like a lullabye that Ro (Barbie) and her mother, used to sing to each other.  Ro was raised by island animals, Tika, Sagi and Azul. She was shipwrecked when she was about 8 years old. In the island, she learned how to speak with animals but she hardly remembers anything from her past. That song is the only she remembered which brought her back into her mother’s arms in the end of the movie. :)

Right Here In My Arms

Sun goes down and we are here together
Fireflies glow like a thousand charms
Stay with me and you can dream forever
Right here in my arms

Sun goes down and we are here together
fireflies glow like a tgousands charms
stay with me and you can dream forever
right here in my arms

its magic, the more you give it away
close your eyes and let me hold you tight
everything, that i could ever need is
right here in my arms tonight
star begin to climb

It’s magic, when you are here beside me
Close your eyes and let me hold you tight
Everything, that I could ever need is
Right here in my arms tonight

Summer day fade away
Stars begin to climb

Mother Queen:

Melodies fill the breeze
Sweeter all the time…

Nonet also love singing I Need to Know. This was the song that Ro sang when he joined Prince Antonio to sail away from the island in search for her lost family.

I Need To Know

Ro: Where is the land I come from?
Who lives where I was born?
Why do my memories start with a storm?
What if I have a family
Somewhere beyond the sea?
Could there be someone there missing me?

Tell me why I’m not sleeping
and my heart is leaping inside me
Could this be one of those times
when your feelings decide?

Why does he look through circles?
Why does he hide his feet?
Why do I feel so shy when we meet?
Is this the tree he sleeps in?
What can he see from there?
Could there be new horizons to share?

All these questions keep turning
and churning and burning inside me
What are these feelings I feel
when he’s here by my side?

I need to know these answers
I need to find my way
Seize my tomorrow
Learn my yesterday
I need to take these chances
Let all my feelings show
Can’t tell what’s waiting
Still I need to go
I need to know

Prince: Isn’t she just amazing?
Daring and bold and sure
Different from girls that I’ve met before
Do you think she might like me?
How do I look tonight?
I just want everything to be right

All these questions keep turning
and churning and burning inside me
What are these feelings I feel
when she’s here by my side?

Both: I need to know these answers
I need to find my way
Seize my tomorrow
Learn my yesterday
I need to take these chances
Let all my feelings show
Can’t tell what’s waiting
Still I need to go
I need to know …

And ofcourse, her most favorite is the song Always More. This was the song that Ro sang to Tika when her troop was sent back to the southern island. They had been accused of spreading illness to the animals in the kingdom.

Always More

Everybody is born to care
It’s something we were meant to share
Not to keep to ourselves all alone

If we make room for someone new
Doesn’t mean that there’s less for you
Only means that our circle has grown

Love knows, love grows
Bigger than before
In your heart there’s always more

It’s magic the more you give it away
The more love comes back to you everyday
You are my Tika and I am your Ro
Always forever wherever we go

So Love knows, love grows
Bigger than before
In your heart there’s always more
Always more
Always more

Actually, there are other beautiful songs in the movie. It is a feel good movie that the young and the young at hearts will be able to enjoy! :)

Ciao! :)

The Value of Human Life

It's my Life, movies No Comments »

I bought several DVDs the other day. Last night my cousin and I decided to watch one the films I got. The movie “The Day the Earth stool still” really caught my attention. I was expecting a different story than the movie presented, but it was indeed an amazing and an “awakening” film.

What if one day you came face to face with another creature from our neighbor planets. It will tell you that man’s technology has developed weapons that could be a threat to earth’s neighbors in the universe. That they are creatures who have watched the world from afar and since the universe’s safety is at risk, they come to destroy the planet earth. But that could be changed, if man will be able to prove them the value of human life.

Honestly, I wouldn’t know what to answer as well. In the movie, the lead actor, Joshua, was to prove to prove the so-called aliens the value of human life. He was able to show them that man has compassion. That man has a feeling, and that inspite of all the technology around, man still knows how to give true love.

I just heard from the news, that there was this woman who just gave birth from a certain hospital, who lost her baby. Not that the baby died, but it was stolen. A new-born baby was stolen! At first, I got mad with the mother. I am a mother as well and she couldn’t be that careless losing her new born child. Then, she explained that she was given a medicine by the attending nurse and somehow fell asleep. When she woke up she can’t find her baby anymore. Her husband came in the hospital and learned that there was no any record which shows that the woman gave birth there. The news anchor then said that it is a new type of modus operande today. Hearing that incident made me really sad.

Looking around us, you can really say that it will be hard for man to prove the value of human life. But then, I know that inspite of all the crisis that the earth faces today, man will still be able that our life, our earth is worth fighting for.

If I were to ask you now, how will you to prove to the value of your life?

Going crazy with Twilight

In the News, lifestyle, movies 4 Comments »

I took a photo of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight. Well, almost everybody went ga-ga when Twilight movie was released. Even copies of books from different bookstores became out of stock and hit the spot of being a bestseller.

In the office, almost everyone is reading a pdf copy of the series. Well, to be honest, I have not seen the movie nor read the book. I don’t know maybe I am not interested or really not my type of story.  I am not sure whether Edward even give Bella one of the nicest engagement rings ever or not.

Well, when I read what New York Times says about Twilight, I somehow got interested and might spend time reading it. Aside from that, I’d like to own a complete set of the series. :)
