Gift Ideas

It's my Life, lifestyle No Comments »

I went to SM Megamall yesterday with Auntie Tina for a grocery and I noticed the different items on Sale. :) I really like sale. I felt bad because I don’t have extra money to buy Christmas presents. Well, I have not work on my Christmas list either. The different items gave me different gift ideas as well. :)

For my god-children, I want to give them something that will remind them of me for we seldom see each other. I am thinking of giving them personalized T Shirts! :)

My sister’s gift to her godchildren last year were personalized tshirt. I think it would be cute and children will appreciate them. :)

It’s just first week of September yet, I can feel already the Christmas breeze!

Ciao! :)

No Space, Leave the Place

lifestyle No Comments »

Can you tell when you are in a hotel room, restroom, motel etc. with a mirror whether it is in fact a mirror or 2-way glass?

Here’s how:

I thought it was quite interesting! And I know in about 30 seconds you’re going to do what I did and find the nearest mirror…. Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or not? This is not to scare you, but to make you aware. A policewoman who travels all over the U.S. and gives seminars and techniques for businesswomen passed this on. When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc.., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (i.e., they can see you, but you can’t see them)?

There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just looking at it.

So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at? Just conduct this simple test:

Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, FOR IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!

So remember, every time you see a Mirror, do the “fingernail test.” It doesn’t cost you anything. Remember: “No Space, Leave the Place.” Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters, daughters, etc. Men: Share this with your wives, daughters, daughters-in- law, mothers, girlfriends and friends.

(Got this from an email sent by my friend Imelda. I believe it is worth posting.)

Be careful always! :)

The Royal Brides

fashion, In the News, lifestyle No Comments »

Since I am not over yet with the recent royal wedding, I did a little research on the British royal brides over the years. Catherine’s wedding gown has been a top secret until her wedding day and so I took the liberty of checking on the different wedding gowns worn by British royal brides on their wedding day, starting with the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyons :)

Check this out!

Gemini for 29 years; now a Taurus..

In the News, lifestyle No Comments »

There have been a lot of fuss about the change of Zodiac signs. Few weeks before the Chinese New Year, we just found out that there had been an addition to the more than century old 12 Zodiac signs. I didn’t know that the stars can change. Well, as far as Astronomy is concerned, there are stars that are being born and there are stars that die. I guess, there have been a lot of changes in the stars position, that’s why a new Zodiac sign was born.

According to prime time news last night, the additional Zodiac sign is called Ophiuchus. It covers the dates from Nov. 29 to Dec. 17. According to my little research, the said sign is associated with a real person. The said person was an Egyptian called Imhotep. He was known to Ancient Greek as Aesclepius. It has been said that one of his abilities was healing and he was the one who introduced it to people. The symbol used to represent Imhotep is the serpent or the snake symbol which is still used to symbolize medical profession up to this day.

It is really interesting to know that I slept one night as a Gemini then woke up the following morning as a Taurus. I wonder when did Astrologers decided to have 13 Zodiac signs. I read the status of my RS in FB and he mentioned that “does changing your zodiac mean you have to change the way you live and how you interact with people??? i look in the mirror and i still see the same me…”. Well, I guess he’s right. I always wait for Zenaida Seba’s daily horoscope when I watch Umagang Kay Ganda. She always, stressed out that stars do not hold our future. They are there to guide, and we have free will to use. Let’s be grateful for that free will. :)

I do not know what the Taurus zodiac sign holds for me. I just hope that I’ll get over with being a Gemini, soon…

Well, let’s stop going crazy about this changes. We have one God who loves us all, and He wouldn’t let us go in vain. Let’s just put our trust and faith on Him.

Overlooking at TMC

lifestyle No Comments »

We stayed on the 12th floor Nursing Tower of Medical City when Antoinette was confined due to Pneumonia with Asthma. After putting her to bed, I love staring at the window and admiring the beautiful sky with clouds and gazing through the lovely houses of one the popular subdivisions in Quezon City.

I have always wanted to own a house. I thought before that condo living is nice, but then, I realized that having a house and lot is much better. I have already scouted different developers and subdivisions nearby, and I fell in love to few model houses. I wanted to own one, but I am still earning for the down payment.

It’s a good thing that there are different agencies and developers that offer affordable house and lots. :)

I hope I could find a house for me and my family. Which we will be able to be able to call our own .

As of now, I have to focus on earning to have enough money for reservation and down payment.

A Gift for Patty

lifestyle No Comments »

I thought that the gift I wrapped for her isn’t enough. After the company’s Christmas party, I dropped by a “tiangge” which is few blocks away from our house. I went to a stall that showcases plus size lingerie! Wow! :)

I asked the sales lady how much would a nighties cost, and the price is reasonable. Though the price is reasonable enough, the cash I have in my purse isn’t enough. :(

I told the sales lady that I’ll just come back. Well, I hope that it would still be there when I return. I hope that the “tiangge” will run ’til January. :)

Spend Money Wisely!

lifestyle No Comments »

I just received an email this morning from my team manager that our 13th month pay will be given this week! Wow! I am very excited. :) I also received a message that the Grolier’s Scholastic sale would be this coming December, too.

I believe that many people would agree that Christmas holiday is a time when people gets to have a lot of money! Oh yeah, bonuses and nth month pay. That’s  why you’ll find Sale and bargains and baratilo’s everywhere. It’s very tempting to spend and spend money. Who would not agree that shopping really makes someone feels good! :)

Well, as a piece of advice, I believe that it is time for us to spend our money wisely. I must admit that I was once an impulsive buyer. As I grow older, I learned to spend my money on things that are worth buying and those that are Best Buy! I am proud to say that I learned to control myself and maybe because I have really become a wiser and responsible person. Yey! :)

It is not bad to spend money and enjoy the fruit of your labors! However, we should also remember that today wouldn’t be the last day that we’ll eat or spend, we still have tomorrow to save for. :)

A season of SALE

lifestyle No Comments »

I never realized that Christmas is just behind the corner.  How time flies so fast they said. Christmas is my favorite season of the year. I like it more than my own birthday. :)

People become nicer and generous during the Christmas season! To top it all tiangge and baratillos are scattered everywhere! Oh this what I love during Christmas season. My Internet is not working at home that’s why I wasn’t able to update you very often. But, I am working on it. I am hoping that I will be able to make it work again this weekend.

Anyway, I really took a time off and visit the nearest Internet cafe to give you an information about the different toy sales I visited last week. One toy sale is in Eastwood City. It’s Toy Town’s Toy Sale! It will run up until January 2, 2011. The store opens at 11AM and closes at around 11PM if my recollection of the schedule is correct. There are lots of toys to choose from! The toys they offer are not only for child ones but for those young at heart, too! :)

Another toy warehouse sale I was able to scout is along Monarch St. near Eastwood City, too.  Well, I guess that’s what it is called.  The warehouse schedule is November 26, 27 and 28; December 3-5, 10-12, 17-22. The store opens at around 10AM and closes at 6PM I believe. :) I would like to remind you that this warehouse toy sale only accepts cash as mode of payment. While Toy Town’s toy sale accepts credit card too. :)

I really love to buy toys and wrap them and give them to my godchildren and to my nieces and nephews. However, I have to attend to more important things first. Though I would really save something to buy those children some gifts. :)

Well, we would probably bump into each other in one of these toys sale soon! Enjoy!

A Place to Retire

lifestyle No Comments »

The beach water provides me a calm and comforting feeling. When I retire many years from now, I really love to live in a house by the beach. Since I am still young and working, I also wanted to own a house and lot near the city. Well, it’s my mother who wanted to have one. She wanted to have a garden and yard. She said that if we have our own yard, we can adopt cats and dogs already.

When I went to the market last week, I took a side trip to Camella Cerritos East. I loved the model house Marvela. It is single detach and there is enough area that can be used as a little garden. The agent toured me around the house, and I really fell in love with it. The model house has furniture set. I love the bathroom vanity set in the model house! :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I didn’t get surprise when the agent showed me a sample computation. The house cost around PhP4.6M! The agent said that it’s the lot that made the house costly. Well, I understand that. The house is located within the city, and the facilties are just few minutes away from it.

Well, I know for a fact that the house and lot that we can afford could be somewhere in Cavite or Antipolo. My sisters and I are still scouting for a house and lot that we can afford and yet still close enough to our work place.

Who knows the numbers I have for the lottery would be lucky enough to be drawn, I would be able to own one of those houses then. :)

Enjoying racing on TV

lifestyle No Comments »

I just got off the phone with ney and I am glad to know that found something to enjoy with during his free time. Ney is fond of cars, motorbike and of course heavy equipment. Hehehe! I remember his wrangler before and how we strolled around Quezon on his motorbike! He told me that one of his past times is watching atv racing. He told me that he is really amazed on how the drivers of those motors dashed through the racing track!:)

He hopes to get one of those motors one day. Well, I told him that he should work harder and save money so he can get what he wanted. I am just glad that somehow he is enjoying his stay there. I love you ney!

Moon Cake Festival

lifestyle No Comments »

I went to China Bank after my shift last Friday. After my transaction with the teller, she asked to go to another teller to draw dice in a crystal bowl. The lady wished me luck as I throw the dice. Well, I am not that lucky enough to win one of the major price. I got a bar of chocolate as a consolation price. Out of curiosity, I asked the lady what the occasion was and she told me that it is Chinese’s Mooncake Festival. Well, I hope I got a mooncake instead of the chocolate bar. :(

Nevertheless, I searched on the net, how Mooncake festival started. Quoting Wikipedia’s History of Mooncake festival;

The festival is intricately linked to the legends of Chang E, the mythical Moon Goddess of Immortality. According to “Li-Ji”, an ancient Chinese book recording customs and ceremonies, the Chinese Emperor should offer sacrifices to the sun in spring and the moon in autumn. The 15th day of the 8th lunar month is the day called “Mid-Autumn”. The night on the 15th of the 8th lunar month is also called “Night of the Moon”. Under the Song Dynasty (420), the day was officially declared for Mid-Autumn Festival.

Because of its central role in the Mid-Autumn festival, mooncakes remained popular even in recent years. For many, mooncakes form a central part of the Mid-Autumn festival experience such that it is now commonly known as ‘Mooncake Festival’.

I have tasted a mooncake and I love it!

No FB in China???

I am missing my god mother so much and I search for her in facebook. I was able to find her and added her as friend. I told my mother about it and she is very happy to at least see Ninang Cher in the picture. I wondered why it took her few days to accept my request. Then, today when I logged in to FB I was notified that she granted my request to be her friend. I learned that the reason why she wasn’t able to grant the frienship request I sent her, is because FB is blocked in China!!! I didn’t know it until today. I know that FB and other social websites are blocked in North Korea. I didn’t know that it has been banned in China. :(

Well, it’s a good thing that she went to Hong Kong! She was able to access her FB and granted my r
