Fashion @ SONA

In the News No Comments »

Before I give my insights to the recently concluded state of the nation address of President NoyNoy Aquino, let’s talk about first the beautiful Filipiñanas wore by respective women who attended the said event. SONA has always been a red carpet event. I guess, aside from the contents of the president’s SONA, the beautiful gowns are much awaited for. :)

I waited for SONA even if I needed to sleep already not only to hear the president’s report but to see those beautiful gowns. Here are some of the beautiful ladies in their Filipiñana. I really enjoy looking at them. :)

I tried to find a clear photo of Kris Aquino’s gown but I am unable to find one yet. I bet some of those women who attended the 2011 SONA even ordered a pair of shoes from yellow box shoes :) !

My favorite of all is the pale pink Randy Ortiz gown of Lucy Torres. She is really elegant (as always)!

I am keeping this article and will be waiting for the next SONA. :)

Rise and Shine People!

In the News No Comments »

It’s a good day today. Typhoon Falcon has left the country after bringing so much rain and flood. Though I love rain, I was also worried about those people who were greatly affected by the storm. I was listening to the news this morning and found out that there are still towns in the country that are submerged in the flood. :(

During the rage of Falcon, news about flood and emergency help were all in the news. It’s a good thing to know that most of the town and cities in the country have learned a great lesson after the wrath of Ondoy. Many cities have their own rescue boats and emergency equipment. If US has rv travel emergency, the country also has different agencies which one can call incase of urgent situations.

The weekend weather has been good so far. There had been some drizzles but its pretty much fine compared to last week’s weather. :)

Well, it’s a great Monday and it’s a great weather to start the week.

Good morning everyday and have a wonderful week!

Manny Pacquiao the Pambansang Kamao

In the News No Comments »

It has always been like a holiday when Manny Pacquiao has a boxing match. The streets and main roads are clear with traffic and the crime rate is very low. :)

Last Sunday, Manny Pacquiao has proven himself again as Philippines’ Pambansang Kamao and the world’s number 1 Pound for Pound, Boxing Champ! He was able to defend his title against Sugar Shane Mosley.

I was watching TV patrol few days before the said boxing match, Kuya Kim Atienza reported bits of pieces that the masses do not know about Manny Pacquiao. When Manny ran for a Congressional position in 2010, many people questioned his ability to perform as a congressman. Yet, with all the money he has earned, he managed to finish schools and earned doctorate degrees. My sister told me that he didn’t go through a formal education; that there are courses and doctorate degrees being offered online. Most popular of them is getting an online nursing degree. Even so, he was able to prove the public that he can be tough in the boxing ring and also in the House of representatives. :)

Congratulations Manny Pacquiao! Once again you have made our country, the Philippines, proud again! More power to you! :)

Blessed John Paul II

In the News, Something Good No Comments »

If I had become a baby boy, my mother would have named me John Paul; after Pope John Paul II. My mother was five months pregnant when Pope John Paul II first visited the Philippines in 1981. My mother shared that she didn’t mind running through Quezon City Circle just to get a good view of the Pope. She was with her aunt when the Pope made a procession on board an open carriage full of flowers. :) She recalled the different feeling of happiness when she saw the Pope; it was an unexplainable joy.

I was in high school when I got the chance to see the Pope’s rosy cheek and his holiness. I participated in the 1995 World Youth Day. I was one of those many people who camped in the Luneta Grandstand to attend the holy mass led by the Pope. I was one of the thousands who waited the turn to see him and to feel the blessings of God through him. It was a wonderful feeling. I can still recall his smile and the love he had for people. :)

Last May 1, 2011, the beatification of Pope John Paul II was held at the Vatican City led by the Pope Benedict XVI. He was beatified for a nun has been healed from Parkinson’s disease through Pope John Paul II’s prayer. One more miracle and he will be canonized to be a saint. :)

Pope John Paul II has performed a lot of miracles while he was still alive. He was the pope that made a difference. He was the one who tell the world of God’s love. Many people believe that he will be canonized soon. He was loved so much by God and the holy mother.

I have uttered my own prayers through him. But, I hope and pray that he would continue to pray for my country and the all the countries in the world. He was the most loved pope of all times. Who knows, that through his prayers, God will bless us more and our world will have peace and would be a much better place to live in. :)

The Royal Brides

fashion, In the News, lifestyle No Comments »

Since I am not over yet with the recent royal wedding, I did a little research on the British royal brides over the years. Catherine’s wedding gown has been a top secret until her wedding day and so I took the liberty of checking on the different wedding gowns worn by British royal brides on their wedding day, starting with the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyons :)

Check this out!

The Royal Wedding

In the News No Comments »

Speaking of technology, people around the globe are fortunate to witness the said to be wedding of the century. We may not be personally invited to witness the exchange of vows of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey, but we’re able to watch them live via satellite. :)

I have always been a fan of the British monarch. I spent hours in the library after my class in high school to read the history of the famous kings and queens of United Kingdom. I am really fascinated about how a royal lived. I have read about King Henry VIII and his love affairs. I read different articles and stories about their castles and palaces.

Princess Diana would have been the most loved member of the British modern monarch. I have loved her, too. I spent money buying books and magazines about the modern day princess. She was a royal by blood not only by marriage. Her father was the eight Earl, making her Lady Diana.

I love collecting pictures of hers and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. I must admit that when had a picture of Prince William in my wallet when I was in high school. Well, I guess, millions of girls around the world have this big crush on the British most eligible bachelor princes. :)

Kate is very lucky to be married to a prince. She is pretty in her own way, but she may not be the prettiest girl. She may be a millionaire’s daughter but that doesn’t make her a royalty.

Amidst all the negative publicity about her being a commoner, the prince still chose to marry her. There maybe certain protocols a royal prince must follow, but in the end, their love still prevailed. :)

As I watched the full coverage of the wedding, I believe the love they have for each will last for a long time. They may not be holding each other’s hands during the ceremony, but the way they stare and smile at each other are enough evidence, of the affection they have for each other.

I may have developed pimples because of watching the said wedding; I can say that staying up late to witness such love is worth it. :) Anyway, I can still get ample of sleep as a best natural acne treatment. :)

I hope that Princess Catherine will love and cherish her husband all the days of her life. I pray that our Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will have a happy and long marriage and have many children.

When I get to have another daughter, I will name her Catherine Elizabeth after Princess Catherine. :)

A Run for Dolphins

In the News 1 Comment »

I wasn’t able to go to work today because of muscle strain on the nape area. I have been enduring the pain since Saturday. When I felt the pain on my right shoulder area, I decided to see a doctor already. The doctor advised me to take a day rest without any muscle restraining activities. I was prescribed with a pain reliever and a muscle relaxant tablet. Somehow, I felt better now. I had a good rest. And, tomorrow I will be reporting to work again. :)

While checking on my facebook friends, I found a picture of an old friend with Dolphin hat. I checked her other pictures and she participated in a run called Run for Dolphins. I have read a lot of articles about the stress a dolphin experiences in a dolphin show. In a recent news, a dolphin died before it reaches its destination for a show. PAWS and other animal welfare organization have been fighting for these dolphin show organizers. Well, not only dolphins but also seals and sea lions, too. These sea creatures experienced a lot of stress when they undergo practice for their show.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It is sad to know that these gentle animals are used to earn money. :( In one of the PAWS seminar I attended, I learned that children get to know animals better while watching Animal Planet and reading books. I can say that it is true. When I bought my daughter a Grolier book called I Wonder Why, she learned about different animals. She can identify a leopard from cheetah. She was only three, then. :)

Well, if ever another Run for Dolphins will be held, I would participate. I hope that a simple run will go a long a way. Not only for dolphins and also for all zoo animals. I remember the poor elephant in Manila zoo. I really feel bad about its condition. :(

I hope that my daughter will have a better health condition for I wanted to bring her with me with nice Treksta evolution running shoe on. :) I wanted her to be aware and be concerned about animal welfare even when she is still young. :)

MERALCO Scam???

In the News 1 Comment »

While I was taking a rest last Saturday, my mother asked Tabibe what happened to one of our neighbors. My mother told my aunt that she noticed their worried voices and faces when she passed by their house. Tabibe said that our said neighbor just received their electric bill which has been set to Php 90,000.00! That’s their recent monthly bill. I was really surprised to hear that. Our neighbor doesn’t have business that would generate a bill like that for a month only! She said that it happened after Meralco replaced their analog meter with a digital one.

Ney’s family in Quezon owns a rice mill which operates 24 hours a day especially if it’s reaping season. Their rice mill is electricity operated but their bill would rise up to Php35000 only.

When our neighbors went to Meralco, they are asked to pay 1000 a month on top of their monthly bill.

That was so awful! I heard a story that there is a scam happening in Meralco regarding these digital meters. I am still doing further research about this matter. I told my mother not to have them replace our own meter, not until the billing issue of our neighbor is settled.

I do not know how many consumers experience the same problem like my neighbors. I thought of writing about this here to inform you guys about this subsequent trick or maybe a flaw on the new digital meter.

If ever you have a similar experience, please let me know. Maybe, we can do something about it if we act together.:)

Is the End Really Near?

In the News No Comments »

I have been so excited about Antoinette’s graduation that I have not share my thoughts on the current issues that the world faces today. Putting Nonet’s graduation aside, my sister Patty shared me about an email she received regarding the 3rd secret of Fatima. I know she gave me a printed copy of it once but I didn’t really read it. I do not want to scare myself to death. What I wanted is to prepare myself for the judgment day.

Our evening news was filled with the civil war happening in Libya. Thousands of Filipinos were rescued from the upcoming danger. We have all prayed and continue praying for the safety of our fellow Filipinos in the said country. Then, an earthquake struck New Zealand. Many lives and properties have vanished. :(

Then, just last Friday, we were filled with horror when we learned the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and a 20-ft tsunami that hit Japan. The said country is accustomed to earthquake for Japan lies on the Pacific ring of fire. They have developed different construction ideas to strengthen their buildings and other structures. Yet, even if Japan is said to be an advanced country as far as technology is concerned, if Mother nature hits us, then there’s nothing we can do. :(

My sister read a few lines from the email she received and the incidents that is happening around us, seems like signs of times. I didn’t really understand what she meant when “it” will happen before 2012. I believe many of you has an idea of what I am talking about regarding 2012.

Many of us, maybe asking, Is the end really near? Is the second coming really near? I have known since I was young that no one knows it will be. Not even, the great Nostradamus. For only God knows when.

So what are these disasters telling us? Whatever religion you are in with, everyone is asked to repent, to forgive, to ask for forgiveness and to pray, pray and pray.

We can never really tell when the judgment day will happen. But, what is important is that we are prepared if ever that day comes. :)

New Zealand struck by Earthquake

In the News No Comments »

The world was saddened when a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand. Many Filipinos are said to be killed when CTV building in Christchurch collapsed due to the said earthquake. It was a very sad news especially when the rescuers have decided to stop checking on the debris of the said building.

There might be a possiblity that the remains of the those people who were buried may not be recovered anymore. :( It was a sad news. I just hope that those who were able to survive the said tragedy, has disability insurance to help them start anew. I pray that the wounds caused by said tremor to the families of those who were killed there will soon be healed.

The Date is On April 29!

In the News No Comments »

With the date already set, Kate Middleton is about to be Her Royal Highness in few months! I wonder what her title would be. Since Princess Diana became the Princess of Wales and Camilla taking Duchess of Cornwall, I wonder what Kate would take. I must admit that I am one of the million girls who have admired the good-looking prince when I was younger. I have loved Princess Diana so much, not because she is a princess but because of all the good deeds she has done. Too bad, she died at a young age. Now, the most admired prince is getting married not to a  ”real-princess”, but I am hoping that Kate’s love for Prince William is genuine. That she loves the man not because of his title, but because of him alone. Like many royalties who are invited to witness the wedding of the decade at Westminister Abbey, I will be keeping that date free. I am pretty sure that cable channels will be doing a live coverage of the said wedding. :) Well, best wishes to them.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

On the other hand, a friend and colleague invited me to attend her wedding on April as well. She have requested the guests to be in their formal attire; with no pants or jeans plea! Hehehe! Of course, I will attend the said wedding. And, I am really looking for a fast fat burner excercise or diet that would somehow eliminate my “baby fats” :) . I know that I still have a month to go through the said excercise and I need to be dedicated and focus about it. Well, I already found a dress to wear. I know I can wear it, I just need to tone down a bit to boost my confidence! :)

I’ll definitely post the pictures of my success then. :P It’s going to be a real challenge to me..

Gemini for 29 years; now a Taurus..

In the News, lifestyle No Comments »

There have been a lot of fuss about the change of Zodiac signs. Few weeks before the Chinese New Year, we just found out that there had been an addition to the more than century old 12 Zodiac signs. I didn’t know that the stars can change. Well, as far as Astronomy is concerned, there are stars that are being born and there are stars that die. I guess, there have been a lot of changes in the stars position, that’s why a new Zodiac sign was born.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

According to prime time news last night, the additional Zodiac sign is called Ophiuchus. It covers the dates from Nov. 29 to Dec. 17. According to my little research, the said sign is associated with a real person. The said person was an Egyptian called Imhotep. He was known to Ancient Greek as Aesclepius. It has been said that one of his abilities was healing and he was the one who introduced it to people. The symbol used to represent Imhotep is the serpent or the snake symbol which is still used to symbolize medical profession up to this day.

It is really interesting to know that I slept one night as a Gemini then woke up the following morning as a Taurus. I wonder when did Astrologers decided to have 13 Zodiac signs. I read the status of my RS in FB and he mentioned that “does changing your zodiac mean you have to change the way you live and how you interact with people??? i look in the mirror and i still see the same me…”. Well, I guess he’s right. I always wait for Zenaida Seba’s daily horoscope when I watch Umagang Kay Ganda. She always, stressed out that stars do not hold our future. They are there to guide, and we have free will to use. Let’s be grateful for that free will. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I do not know what the Taurus zodiac sign holds for me. I just hope that I’ll get over with being a Gemini, soon…

Well, let’s stop going crazy about this changes. We have one God who loves us all, and He wouldn’t let us go in vain. Let’s just put our trust and faith on Him.

Ciao! :)
