Marcelito deserves what he has

Filipino Showbiz No Comments »

I was able to watch the life story of Maecelito Pomoy in MMK about two Saturdays ago. Marcelito is the recent winner of Pilipinas Got Talent. Marcelito has had a lot of hardships in his life. Yet his determination is strong and I really admire him because of this.

While we watch MMK, I cannot help but to get pissed off with Marcelito’s mother and eldest sister. I thought of Sarah Geronimo’s mother as well, Divine Geronimo. I am mother as well, and I cannot imagine how those mothers afford to give their children heartaches. Marcelito’s mother abandoned them and when he found her, she seemed to make money out of Marcelito. Well, Divine on the other hand, took care of Sarah, but she tends to be greedy of her. Maybe Divine is afraid to lose their bread winner. Those mothers are lucky to have Marcelito and Sarah as their children; I know that Marcelito and Sarah are good and kind hearted people.

Going back to Marcelito, he truly deserves what he has now. I pray that Marcelito will have more projects and I hope that he would have a good life. Of all the hardships he went through and going through, he deserves a good life now.

I was truly inspired by Marcelito’s story. When I have problems, I tend to feel so down but then, I realized that my problem is just a bit compared to another person. What is important here is that we learn to keep on fighting, and we should never give up. God loves us all and He sees us. And, He would never let us down. He would never leave us.

God bless you Marcelito. God bless us all!

The Gen San Queen

Filipino Showbiz No Comments »

If Manny Pacquiao is the king of Gen San because of his boxing skills, well Melai could be the queen being Pinoy Big Brother Double Up Big Winner. I bet that Melai, Paul Jake, Jason, Johan and Tibo are still on cloud 9 even though the big night has been more than a week already. For me, they all deserve to be called the Big 5! :)

Sarah Geronimo: A Fan

Filipino Showbiz Comments Off

I watched,  ABS-CBN channel 2′s tribute to the late king of popular music, Michael Jackson last night. There are different local celebrities who were interviewed about being an MJ fan. I was really surprised that one of my favorite singers, Sarah Geronimo is a dear fan of Michael Jackson. She was so affected with the sudden death of MJ. I was touched that this girl has this dream of watching MJ perform live in concert. She mentioned that she’s been a Michael Jackson ever since she was a kid.

Though, Michael had visited the country, thrice she wasn’t able to watch him in concert because she cannot afford to buy the tickets, then. But now that she can buy ticket and travel where MJ will perform, it was too late. She was crying during the interview. This girl really loves Michael.

Sarah, though you haven’t seen MJ perform live in concert, his music will continue to linger generations after generations through an excellent singer and performer like you! :)

May Bukas Pa

Filipino Showbiz, Holy Scriptures 2 Comments »

I just finish watching another episode of “May Bukas Pa.” Once again, Santino, the miracle boy, was able to prove Bro’s (Jesus) power and love for everybody. In the world full of temptations and cruelty, how can we accept that a boy like Santino can make a difference. If you watch the teleserye, though the scenes and situations presented do happen in reality, sometimes, if someone’s faith is not strong enough, one may wonder and say that Jesus’ miracle through Santino only happens in the teleserye. But if we trust God enough just like Santino, I know that we will appreciate and realize God’s miracle in us in our everyday life.

That inspite of all the unpleasant incidents that are going on today, we have God to turn to and He assures us that He will be with us until the end of time. :) I remember that Bible passage from yesterday’s homily in the mass.

“It’s selling like hot cake!” That may sound a cliche, but then, it is one phrase that I can describe the hottest item in the news and even in the Philippine Senate today. Well, it is the video scandal of actress Katrina Halili and Dr. Hayden Kho. Much have been said about the issue and since, this is my site, I would like to take advantage of my priviledge to pour out my opinion.

the video scandal

I have seen the video myself. I pity Katrina and but I pity the commercial model more. In my opinion, Hayden doesn’t have an intention to have the video for public viewing. I mean, his other videos has been taped when he was still at med school which was how many years ago. It’s just that, why does he needs to capture on video his intimate moments with his girlfriends!?! If he really loved those girls, then he should have respect them. Is he sick? Well, he could be.

Is he and Katrina on drugs? If you will only look at the video plainly, one would really say that they could be in the influence of drugs. ‘Coz if not, is that the way you make love with someone you truly love? One of my friends even commented that they looked more like exibitionist. There was no passion.

Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili

 the senate hearing

I watch ETC Live this afternoon, and the host have different opinion about the recently concluded senate hearing about this video scandal. There is bill being promulgated and the success of that bill will depend upon that hearing.

I belive, that the said scandal should be covered under the women and children welfare’s bill. I don’t know how that bill is actually called. But I know that there is already an existing bill who looks after the welfare of women and children.

For me, those senators who have personal intentions are sensationalizing this issue. As we know, 2010 elections is just around the corner.

I think, our senators should not be putting equal time and attention to other issues that our country faces. I don’t even remember what happened to the land reform that our dear farmers are fighting for. I mean, HELLO! we owe the rice we eat from those farmers, that our senators should not take for granted.

lesson learned

I know it has been painful for Katrina to learn such a lesson the hard way. I remember she said in the senate that, it is possible that even when she’s gone, there would still people who will watch her video. That’s pretty sad.

For Hayden, I don’t know. Hopefully he will be able to overcome this not-so-good type of journal. He said that he kept those videos like a diary. Duh?!?

Well, I hope this issue will soon be resolved. And if there is such a law to be made about this, I hope it will be implemented soon. So that, our good senators will be able to focus on other important thing for the welfare of our nation.

Ciao!

Just married!

Filipino Showbiz No Comments »

The local showbiz industry was caught by surprised today with a news that the young supertar, Judy Ann Santos tied the knot with her fiance, Ryan Agoncillo at the San Juan Nepomuceno church in San Juan, Batangas. Well, there had been a lot of rumors about their wedding but no one had confirmed the exact date and place as where the ceremony will take place.

Judy ann and ryan wedding

It was Fr. Tito Caluag who officiated the wedding that took place early morning today. It was a very private wedding. I believe that Judai and Ryan wanted a very solemn wedding, amidst the “circus” like wedding of other celebrities.

Judy Ann and Ryan’s wedding is like a picture perfect wedding which are great for digital frame to last forever. :)

Master Rapper is Gone

“Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world.”

I remember my post last Aug. 14, 2008. It was then when I learned that Philippines Master Rapper Francis Magalona had Leukemia. Francis was my honey’s all time favorite artist. He felt really bad when I sent him a text message this afternoon about the death of Francis M. It was my cousin, Joy who informed about what happened. I am cleaning the house during that time. I turned on the television and luckily I spotted the news flash about his death.

francis magalona

He succumbed to acute myelogenous leukemia at 12:00 noon today at The Medical City in Pasig City. This evening, I learned from news that there are actually different types of luekemia. His was the strongest. The news said also that Francis suffered from Pneumonia which made his condition worst.

He died at the age of 44 and he survived 8 children with Pia Arroyo-Magalona. He was “the man from Manila” who was behind the songs, Mga Kababayan ko, Kaleidescope World, Man from Manila and Meron akong Ano.

Francis showed bravery as he struggled with illness. His wife Pia had shown strength who stood by his husband until his last breath.

Though, Master Rapper is no longer with us, his music will continue to linger and inspire every Filipino as the next century unfolds.

To his family, my sincere condolences..

Becoming a Dyosa

Filipino Showbiz 1 Comment »

Well, I really can’t get over with Dyosa. I really love the series. :) As I have said in my previous post, everybody can be a Dyosa. But then, being a Dyosa(Goddess) means a lot of responsibility. The number 1 rule is not to fall inlove. That’s why Josephine has to give up her love for Adonis. And declined the love being offered by Kulas and Mars.

And, think about the three forms a Dyosa will turn into, Cielo, Agua and Tierra, one should have a healthy and sexy body. Well, I am healthy but a little help from Apidexin will do the second condition. :)

Anne Curtis: Dyosa

Filipino Showbiz, nature 1 Comment »

I watched the finale of Dyosa last night. Dyosa(Goddess) is a fantaserye being aired on ABS-CBN on primetime. The final episode of Dyosa showed that in the end of all battles, evil will always be defeated by good. And, as I  Corinthian 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The truthful love of Adonis for Josephine paved way in defeating his evil father, Tadaklan. The purest love of a mother shown by Sinukuan to her daughter, Josephine. That even though she is in her wicked sister’s body, Magayon, that didn’t stop her in giving Josephine a motherly love.

Adonis and Dyosa Tierra

The picture shows Anne Curtis as Dyosa Tierra. She chants “Lika limpera timpera ciera tierra!” to transform her to Dyosa Tierra(Goddess of the Earth). The other picture is Sam Milby as Prinsipe Adonis of Kasamian. He is the son of Tadaklan, the head of Kasamyans.

At the end of the story, Adonis vanished when he was hit by sun’s rays at sunrise. Josephine cried as she witnessed Adonis being shattered by sun’s light. She was still in agony when Amang Suga told her that she needs to be crowned as “Dyosa” sooner. Her coronation as Dyosa was a success.

Since, the first rule of being a goddess is not to fall in love, Mars opted to leave Kabanua and return to Earth as a human being. He asked Josephine to erase all the memories and thoughts he has about Kabanua and all the things that had happened.

Mars and Dyosa Cielo

This one shows Anne as Dyosa Cielo. She uttered Bambun dumarum kalyedun ciera cielo!” to turn her into Dyosa Cielo (Goddess of the Heavens). Beside her is Zanjoe Marudo as Mars. He was the son of Marsian. A Kabanua who chose to live in the world of mortals and marry an ordinary woman.

Josephine then accompanied Kulas as he goes back to the sea. They bid goodbye to each other. As Kulas, is on his way home to the bottom of the sea, he met a mermaid who looked like Josephine. Her name is Perlas.

Kulas and Dyosa Agua

This is Anne as Dyosa Agua. The incantation to morph her into Dyosa Agua (Goddess of the Seas) is “Lama rameda marina domena ciera agua!“. Beside Dyosa Agua is Kulas/Barakula played by Luis Manzano. He was a gibut(merman) who was assigned as the Guardian of Dyosa. He is also the childhood friend of Josephine(Anne).

Magayon died as punishment for all the wickedness she did, while Diana lost her sanity.

I was really moved by what Josephine said before the story comes to an end. It is true that everyone of us is capable of being a goddess. We should not forget that we are all responsible in taking care of our home.

We are all accountable to whatever happens to our sea, air and land. If we look around us, we’ll find an unusual cold weather that we experience today. The worldwide natural disasters remind us people to take care of our home, Earth.

I can say that Dyosa is the best fantaserye ever produced. Congrats to Anne Curtis and the rest of the cast of “Dyosa”. :)

Anne Curtis as Dyosa

nanana nanana…

A Christmas Wish

family, Festivities, Filipino Showbiz, lifestyle 1 Comment »

I watched Betty La Fea in Channel 2 the other day. It stars Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz. There was a scene when Armando Solis(John Lloyd Cruz) is sharing with Betty(Bea Alonzo) the places he went to celebrate Christmas in the past years. He also told her that when he was young, he used to write his  Christmas wish on a paper. He said that his father will grant almost everything in the list, except for his number 1 wish. Betty then asked Armando what was it. But Armando just shrugged his shoulders and told Betty that it doesn’t matter anymore.

Then, it’s Betty’s turn to share her past Christmas celebration. Betty had wonderful Christmas with her family. Then, she asked Armando if he can spend his Christmas with her and her family. Then, Armando hugged him tight. He told Betty that it was his number 1 wish, “to spend Christmas with a family.” Something that his father cannot fulfill.

john lloyd cruz and bea alonzo

I really like their love team. I have admired John Lloyd Cruz as an actor and he really looks good in the big screen. He’s a very good actor. He can play each role given to him as if he’s really that “person.” I remember one time, when he played the role of man who has cerebral palsy. That in spite of it, that person became successful. That’s about John Lloyd. :)

Well, everyone of us has our own Christmas wish. As for me, I just wish that my daughter will have good health and many blessings for me my family. :)

Does Laarni deserve to be called a Grand Star Dreamer?

Filipino Showbiz No Comments »

I watched Pinoy Dream Academy Awards night last night. Well, the winners didn’t turn out to be the ones that I and my family (and I’m sure a lot of people) expected to be. I like Liezel Garcia. She is a great performer. Her voice can do whatever song she has to sing. I also like Cris Pastor. She has the voice of becoming a star. She knows how to project and she carries herself well.

I was expecting Liezel to be the grand star dreamer last night, because she deserves it. Even Cris should be in higher ranking. But to my dismay, Liezel on placed 4th, and Cris placed 6th.
I was really surprised why Liezel only placed 4th, and she was a 5-time top scholar! I am not sure why people didn’t find the star quality in her. Are they so deaf not to hear her sing? Are they so blind not to her perform? Come on! Or it’s really the masses who chose the one which mac boy called, we have a “palengkera” winner?

I have nothing against Laarni. I was just really disappointed when I heard her name called as the PDA Season 2’s Grand Star Dreamer. Does she really deserved to be called one? Okay, Laarni has a good singing voice. But I can’t the X factor that she should have for a lasting showbiz career. And, if you’ll recall her past performances, there are songs that she tends to be out of tuned. I am singer and I have an “ear” for music. And even if I don’t know the song that much, I can hear if the singer becomes “sintunado” (out of tune). Do you remember her performance in the final gala night? It wasn’t perfect either. I’m not sure if she gets used to committing mistakes when she performs. And when her name was called as the grand star dreamer and she needs to sing her piece, “Manalig Ka, Malapit Na” she can’t even sing well. And to everybody’s surprise, she even sit in the middle of the stage! I understand that she was overwhelmed with what’s going on, but she should remain composed and professional. Remember Yeng Constantino, the 1st PDA grand star winner? She was so cool when she won and she really deserves to be called a Grand Star winner.

I guess, PDA should change their scoring matrix. I think it should be 50/50. Fifty percent will be coming from the text votes and 50% from the “experts”, the jurors and mentors.

1st place – Laarni Lozada

2nd place – Bugoy Drilon

3rd place – Miguel Mendoza

4th place – Liezel Garcia

5th place – Van Roxas

6th place – Cris Pastor
