Maundy Thursday

On Maundy Thursday, the Catholic Church holds the mass which signals the beginning of the Triduum Prayer. The mass is called, “Misa ng Huling Hapunan”. The highlights of this mass is washing of the feet. In this mass, we remember Jesus having dinner with His apostles to celebrate the Jews’ pass over. We remember Jesus washing the feet of His apostles. In our parish, the 12 chosen Lay Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, who represented each of Jesus’ 12 apostles, also washed the feet of the masses attending the said celebration. My foot was washed, too. I just don’t remember who the apostle was. Well, good thing I just had my pedicure. :)

After the washing of the feet, the rest of mass celebration continued. After the communion, the exposed Holy Eucharist was placed in the tabernacle. A vigil has been hold for the holy tabernacle.

On Maundy Thursday too, people from different part of the country participate in Alay Lakad. Some walked along Ortigas Avenue while others through Marcos Highway all are bound to Antipolo Cathedral. I participated once in this Alay Lakad when I was 12 years old. People may have different reasons for doing this sacrifice, but what is important is that their intentions are pure.
