Holy Wednesday

Feast and Festivities Add comments

Every year, we always look forward to Holy Wednesday. It is the day when Catholic Church holds the parade of saints. Images of the saints who were present during the passion of the Christ are set for a procession. The said images are not being praised but they were paraded to remind us about the sacrifice and death of Jesus. That the passion of the Christ really happened about 2000 years ago to save us from sins. And, these saints were there and witnessed the death of Christ.

Some of the saints present in the said procession are the images of St. John Evangelist, St. Mary Magdalene, The Good Samaritan, St. Peter, St. Jacobe, and Mama Mary.

Aside from the fact that the images of the saints, reminds us about Jesus death, since they were the witnesses, my sisters and I also noticed the different dresses the images are wearing. It’s just looks good to see what the images are wearing. The detailed bead work, the use of different kinds of beads, such as Bronzite Beads and other sparkling beads add beauty to the image. We also noted the beautiful flowers used in each image carriage. :)

We actually have this hope, that one day our family will own an image which will also be part of the said procession. Well, we are thinking of getting “The Last Supper”, or could also be the image of Jesus praying in the garden of Gethsemane. :)

Who knows, time will come and we’ll have one. It could also be a family heirloom which will be passed on from Nonet’s generation to her children’s children. (Pictures are from our church, Sto. Rosario de Pasig Church fb account.)
God bless our family.
Ciao! :)
