Valentine’s Card from Nonet

family No Comments »

It may have been 2 weeks since Valentine’s Day but I believe I need to tell something about the card that my daughter gave me. :) Nonet is currently in prep and she is enjoying their art activities so much. She was so excited when she came home a day before Valentine’s day telling me about the cards she made for me. :)

On Valentine’s day, she gave me this card. :) She made this for her father and I, and it really made me happy. :)

I remember when I was a kid, I used to do Valentine cards for my parents as well. As I grow up, and earned money, I started buying Hallmark cards and flowers to give them. When I have extra money I also buy sympathy flowers with cute teddy bears for my friends. :)

Now that I am a mother, too, I realized that homemade Valentine cards are more heartfelt and valuable than any commercial cards. :) I know that sooner or later, Nonet will be buying me one of the cards available at bookstore, chocolates, or a teddy. For the meantime, I will cherish the moments and the occasions that she will be doing greeting cards for me. :)

Ciao! :)

Our Lady of Lourdes

Uncategorized No Comments »

Mama Mary has been given many titles and recognition. One of the said titles associated to her is Our Lady of Lourdes. The said title was given to her because of her various apparitions in Lourdes, France. The most famous apparition happened in February 11, 1858 when the holy mother appeared before 14-year old girl,  Bernadette Soubirous. There had been series of apparitions following that date, and on March 25, the lady admitted to Bernadette that she is the Immaculate Conception.

Bernadette was eventually canonized as saint in 1933. She died in a convent at the age of 35. Thirty years following her death, her body was exhumed and found incorrupted! :)

February 11 is set as the day of the sick as well. The same date when Mama Mary first appeared to St. Bernadette. St. Bernadette is the patron saint for bodily illness.

Like in countless apparitions of Mama Mary, the message is always the same. Pray the rosary. Pray and repent.

I am guilty though of not praying the rosary everyday but I do when I can.

Everyday we face difficulties in our life that we almost give up. But, we should always remember that we have a mother who always pray for us. She is the closest human to God. Let us not forget that we Jesus. And, He is bigger than whatever problems we may have.

Our Lady of Lourdes, Pray for us!

Ciao! :)

See you soon Honey!:)

I had a good chat with honey last night. As much as possible, I tried to avoid anything that would trigger our fight. :) I don’t want to give him something that we will worry about. In spite of our indifference, I know in my heart that it would still be Thata. :)

Like him, Nonet and I are also excited about his arrival. I am so proud of him. He will be able to finish his 2-year contract this year. He was able to save money from his salary as well. Its a good thing that he send to his mother. Oh well, he feel more secure when he send his savings to his mom than to me. It’s alright with me. I can’t blame him. :P Hehehe!

He told me that they still have a cold weather in Saudi. I believe it’s still winter in there. He said that it is really pretty cold. I told him to get one of those columbia jackets on sale, it’s going to be helpful to him. Anyway, he will be in Saudi for few more months.

He is so excited that he showed me the things that he bought. I am glad to see that he was able to buy the things he wanted. Gadgets and jewelries that he was only dreaming before. I am glad that those things motivated him to work hard and He also told me that he was awarded as best operator.

He also asked me what I wanted. I can say that ney is lucky to have me in a way that I have a good job, too. That somehow, I can provide for myself and for Nonet, too. But, I asked him to buy Nonet a PlayStation Portable. Nonet has always wanted to have one. He is planning to give her a netbook though, but I told ney that Nonet will be happier if she has a PlayStation. :)

As for me, I have requested for Lacoste Touch of Pink and Ferragamo Incanto Shine. Hehehe! I believe these perfume cost cheaper there because there is no tax.

There is another request I have asked for. But, it is up to honey to buy for me or not. I just wanted to have it. I didn’t ask for any new cellphone because my old N73 is still good and working. It may not be a touchscreen phone but I love it. :) What I have asked for honey is an IPOD. I want the classic one only. :) I told him that it’s up to him if he will buy me one. If he did, then thank you ney. If he didn’t, it’s fine with me. :)

What is important is that ney will be home soon safe and sound. :) God bless you ney! See you soon! I love you.

After 22 years!

Last February 8, my mother, my sister Patty and I went to NAIA Terminal 3 to fetch our Tita Edna and her student. Her student will be competing in a national level science competition in Baguio City. The last time I saw Tita Edna was during my Tito Lino’s wedding. It was 22 years ago! I was only 8 years old then.

I took a vacation leave from work because their expected arrival is around 9PM. They arrived at NAIA Terminal 3. It was my first time in the airport. I might have been in NAIA Terminal 1 but I can no longer recall. My sister Patty told me that I am such a loser! Hehehe! :)

We took a bus ride bound to Baclaran. The traffic in EDSA drives me crazy! I was really getting mad because of the traffic my sister seemed so relax while listening music on her phone. She said that it is usual in EDSA. And the traffic we have encountered was just a light traffic. She works in Makati and she is used to this kind of traffic.

We’re supposed to get off at Pasay Road but my mother decided to cut the trip and we got off at Dusit Hotel. We took from there going to the airport. I was really excited when we arrived at the airport. I was never a traveler. I like to see and visit different places but if I cannot afford it, it is fine with me. I can live staying at home while reading books, or working on my cross-stitch or working on my blog site. :)

The last time my mother saw her sister was in May 2010 when they had a grand reunion in Antique. After about 45 minutes of waiting, Tita Edna and her student, Zy, arrived through Cebu Pacific plane from Davao City. I was really excited and happy to see her. She was still studying when we saw each other. Now, she has a daughter who will be graduating in college this year and a son. :) How time flies so fast!

We ate our dinner at Kenny Rogers. I know that she is excited to see us as well. She told me that she was expecting a little Anette to fetch her. She didn’t really expect that we are all grown ups now. Well, I told her that I am not just grown up, I have a daughter already which made her a grandaunt already! :)

We also met her student Zy, who is very quiet. He just observed us while we chat and laugh. But, he responded when asked. :)

After a little tour in the airport (we got a little lost, my bad), we headed to Victory Liner in Pasay. We waited until they are onboard the bus going to Baguio. I miss Baguio. I have only been there twice but it is one place I will never get tired of spending vacations. I love the different tourist spots, the cold weather and the vegetables and strawberries!

It was really a fun and exciting day. :)

Ciao! :)

I will be on leave this evening from work to fetch my Tita Edna from the airport. Tita Edna is my mothers youngest sibling. I have not seen for almost 22 years! The last time I saw her was when she and I participated in the wedding of her brother, my Tito Lino about 22 years ago, too! She was one of the bride’s maid while I was one of the flower girls.

Last week, I received a call from her and she asked me if the trips of Victory Liner going to Baguio in Pasay City is 24 hours. They will be traveling from Cotabato City to Baguio for a scholastic contest. She will accompany her student in the said contest. I decided to file a vacation leave for a day so I can see her. I know that if I wouldn’t take this chance then it may take a while again to see her.

Although, we seldom see each other, there is a bond that will always connect us. :) I am so excited to see her. :) My younger sister Patty will come with me to fetch her. I wanted to bring my daughter along but since Nonet still has classes the following day, I decided to leave her with my mother.

I hope that they will have a safe trip and that her student will win the contest. Can’t wait to see her later on. I will also ask my mother to make some sandwiches to be wrapped in waxed paper, so they wouldn’t get hungry as they travel via land going to Baguio. If only I have budget, I would love to come to Baguio. :)

See you later, Tita. :)

There’s no place like Earth

After I have finished reading Have A Little Faith, I decided to take a break from reading fiction and non-fiction novels. I checked on our book shelf and got me one of the books from 1000 Things You Should Know About. The set is composed of 10 volumes by Grolier.

I took the volume called Space. I have always fascinated by the mystery of space; the stars, the planets, the universe. I always wonder if there are other creatures in the universe other than us, earthlings. I wonder if the said creatures also breathe oxygen. Or they may be breathing carbon dioxide or other gases which make them survive. I wonder if only planet earth holds living things.
We started studying about space as early as pre-school. We learned about the day and night. We learned about the sky. We learned about the sun, the moon and the stars. We learned that we live in
a planet called the Earth. :)

We know that our sun is a medium-sized star; a star that is million light years away from us. The sun is the center of the solar system we belong to. It is also the closest star to our planet.

I remember studying about the planets of the solar system when I was in grade 3. My mind was refreshed with the different characteristics of each planet in our solar system and what makes the earth been called the living planet. Why we have been so lucky to live on our planet.

The Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. We cannot live on this planet. Life can be impossible here, too. At night time its temperature is around -180 degrees Celsius. While at day time, its temperature will be over than 430 degrees Celsius!

Venus is the second planet from the sun. It may be the second planet from the sun but it is the hottest planet in our solar system. Its surface temperature can be over 470 degrees Celsius. Its atmosphere is a thick mixture of carbon dioxide and sulphuric acid. This was caused by the planets volcanoes. I don’t believe life is possible on this planet, too. Unless, the creatures breath carbon dioxide with sulphuric acid. We can see Venus on our night sky because of its thick clouds of Carbon dioxide and sulphuric acid reflects sunlight and make it shine like a star.

The planet Mars is the 4th planet from the sun. It also been called as the red planet. It has been said as well as the Earth’s twin planet. Space probes did not find any evidence of life in Mars. However, a possible fossil of a micro-organism in a Mars rock, make scientist speculates that life once exist on Mars. So, the hunt for life on Mars is still on. Man cannot live still on Mars for water is not available there. There could be an oasis somewhere, but as of today, I believe no water has found yet on Mars.

Jupiter is the 5th and the biggest planet in our solar system. It is a gigantic planet which measures 142, 984 kilometers across. If life is possible on this planet, this may resolve the overpopulation problem we are experiencing. However, Jupiter is mostly made of hydrogen and helium gas. Even space craft may not be able to land on this planet, because it has no surface to land on!

Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun and the second biggest, too. Saturn has become famous because of its rings. It is called the ringed-planet. Thinking about the rings that surround this planet, one can really say that it is a beautiful planet. Saturn is not solid. It is made mostly of liquid hydrogen and helium. Like Jupiter, like could not be possible on this planet. But who knows? Saturn is a secretive planet. :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Next to Saturn is the planet Uranus. It is the 3rd biggest planet of our solar system. It’s the seventh planet. Like Saturn, it has rings, too but very faint. It’s atmosphere is made of hydrogen and helium gas. Uranus surface is made up of an ice-cold ocean of liquid methane. This gave the planet a stunning blue color. :) You think life is possible on this planet? Well, maybe if you can stand the cold surface without freezing!

Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun. Neptune is so far away from the sun, that it will take around 165 Earth years to complete the orbit. It has a surface of icy cold liquid methane and an atmosphere of hydrogen and helium.

Pluto was the once considered a planet. It was then the ninth planet from the sun. It was called as the dwarf planet. However recent studies disqualified Pluto from being called a planet. (Source: 1000 Things You Should Know About: Space)

What do you think made me present to you brief description of our neighboring planets? Why do I need to waste time describing each planet if you can find these things and more over the Internet? As I read about the universe, I realize how tiny we are. We are like dust in the wind (just like the said song tells us). I was very thankful that I was born on this planet. I have appreciated life more after reading the book. Moreover I have appreciated our planet more.

This piece of writing is just a simple reminder that we have only one Earth. There is only one planet in our solar system where life is possible; where we can live.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We are all aware of Earth’s destruction. This is a reminder that all of us are responsible in taking care of our Earth. And, we are all being called to do something for our home, our planet.
As you know, there is no place like Earth. We should act now.
