What is your gift for Him this Christmas?

Feast and Festivities 3 Comments »

I was busy doing the errands and chores I need to do last December 24. I went to the wet market early in the morning with my sister. When we got home, I rested for a while then I went to the grocery store. I headed to a gift shop afterwards to do a last minute shopping. Everybody was rushing that day. Everybody was checking and looking for good buys to wrap as gifts for family and friends.

While I was waiting for my turn to the cashier, a thought came to me and I realized that it was true. A lot of us were busy doing our Christmas shopping and checking many times our Christmas list to ensure that we were able to buy gifts for all the important people in our lives. Even on Christmas eve, we still rush to the nearest gift shop to pick up something for unexpected visitors who will come on Christmas day.

But, what we tend to forget always, is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. Why we have Christmas day after all? I asked myself then, what would be my gift to Jesus this year. Is there anything I can give that He doesn’t have?

My money is not suffiecient enough ’til the next payday. Yet, I bought a cake for the celebrant. :) I believe that He would be with us when we remember His birthday. :)

On Christmas eve, I was talking to Him in prayers and I thank Him for everything. I cannot give Him any material thing and I cannot promise that I will not sin anymore, but I will do my best not to commit any. It may be very difficult but I will try. And, I will love Him always. My gifts may be nothing compared to the many many beautiful things He gave me, but I believe that He would be happy to know that inspite of the materialism that we have in celebrating Christmas, I still remember that today is His day. That we should always bear the Christmas spirits not only for one day nor for two weeks, but everyday of the year.

Gifts for the Baby

Feast and Festivities No Comments »

When I was telling the story of Christmas to my daughter, I told her that Jesus’ first visitors were the sheperds who were awaken by an angel and told them the good news. I told her as well, that Jesus were visited by three wise men who brought gifts for the baby Jesus. :) My daughter asked if they were Jesus godparents. Well, they could be. :)

I always forget the gifts brought for the baby and so, I decided to do a little research about it. :) The three wise men brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Based on my research, Myrrh is used as an anointing oil, frankincense as a perfume, and gold as a valuable. These gifts have spiritual meaning as well, “gold as a symbol of kingship on earth, frankincense (an incense) as a symbol of priestship, and myrrh (an embalming oil) as a symbol of death.” (Based on Wikipedia).

I guess that gift giving started on this scene. Though the gifts that we give shouldn’t be expensive or branded. What is important is that we give because we love to give, and we shouldn’t be expecting anything in return. :)

Jesus in a Manger

Feast and Festivities No Comments »

After our Christmas dinner last night, my youngest sister Pauline asked me to tell the story of Panunuluyan. My daughter is only five years old but she is a very observant child. :) She also asked a lot of questions and I answered her questions, in the most simple answer I can possibly give.

On Christmas eve, she seen a re-enactment of Panunuluyan in our neighborhood. She didn’t understand it and she began asking questions about it. I started telling her the story but my words were not as accurate as it can be. I asked her to get her Bible and we’ll read the story of Panunuluyan from there. I bought my daughter a Children’s Bible where Bible story were written to cope with children’s understanding.

I browsed through its pages and began telling her the story of Panunuluyan. I continued the story until Jesus was born. Then she asked, why Jesus was born in a manger, while she was born in a hospital. She even asked if there were no hospital during Jesus’ time. I really find it hard to answer her question. I do not know how to answer it in a way that she would be able to understand it, and would not ask anymore. Hehehe!

I told her that Mary and Joseph wasn’t able to find a house where they could rest and they didn’t expect that Jesus would be born when they went to Betlehem. I told her that there maybe hospitals or clinic then, but the couple weren’t able to find one on time. Of course, she didn’t stop asking. :( I continued explaining that Jesus was laid on a manger, where the animals eat. I told her that when baby Jesus grow up, He will redeem people from sin. My daughter is aware of the Jesus’ passion because she was able to watch Sinakulo one time and she had seen that part in her bible.

I told her about the sheperds who were the first visitors and witnesses that the son of God was born. I told her about the three wise men who came and offered gifts for the baby Jesus. She even asked if the wise men happened to be Jesus’ god parents. Well, they could be for they brought him gifts. :)

I told her that Jesus being born in a manger was a symbolic one. That soon, He will be offering His life to save people from sins. I told her that only Jesus can because He is king and He is God. I told her that when she grow up, she would understand better the persona of God. I told her that what Jesus wants from children like her is for them to be kind, respectful and obedient to parents. :) My daughter didn’t say that she is perfectly obedient. Instead, she said that her kakulitan is lessen already. And, she obeys mama (my mother) as much as she can. At least she is honest. :)

I told her to remember, that the reason why we celebrate Christmas is because we remember Jesus birthday. I told her that even if it is not December 25 anymore, we should continue to hold Christmas spirit in our hearts everyday of the year. Well, that one goes for everybody too! :)

Happy holidays!

I am taking advantage of the “avail time” we have in the office right now, to greet you guys a Merry Christmas. Yup! :D You read it right, I am at work right now and I am hoping that our customer’s will be kind enough to spare us from talking and talking today. Hehehe! I hope that they are enjoying the Christmas holiday with their friends and families! :)

I am so lucky to spend Christmas eve with my family. It happened that my rest day from fall on Christmas eve. :) My cousins, April and Joy went to Quezon to spend the holidays with their family. That’s why only five of us, (with Tabibe who dropped by to say Merry Christmas) ate the Noche Buena food we prepared. :)

The following morning, we heard mass together. It was a great feeling. I don’t remember having that kind of serene feeling lately. :)

I hope everybody enjoys celebrating Christmas! God bless us all!

A Trip to Laiya

Places No Comments »

After the stressful week of staying at the hospital, I knew that I needed a break. I joined my previous team’s team building at Laiya in San Juan, Batangas. I asked my mother if I can join them, she said that I should. Once in a while, I needed to unwind. She said not to worry about Nonet, and she will closely monitor her.

I really love the beach that’s why I also decided to come with them. The beach gave me a serene and calm feeling. Sometimes, I dreamt of being a mermaid so I can stay in the water for long. :) I have been to one of Laiya’s white beaches, when ney had a project in there.

It was a 5-hour drive from Manila! Well, that includes stop overs and grocery at SM Lipa. We arrived in Laiya at around 6PM. It was partly dark already but I didn’t mind. :) After I placed my bag to safety, I asked my girl friends, to accompany me at the beach. What a happy feeling! :)

I rushed up to our room and changed my clothes. After eating dinner, my friends and I decided to walk by the beach. It was dark already. I still wore my glasses though, but Baby and Rox were so thoughtful to be my guide! :) We took pictures in the night, but the shots were good using my teammate’s camera. I didn’t bother to bring my camera for I knew that the team will be bringing their “high-end” cameras! :)

I couldn’t help but plunging into the water even the sky was dark. I was accompanied by Ara who enjoyed the sea water as well. Our boss though asked us to leave the water for it was dangerous.

When the boys started to drink alcohol, I decided to go to our room and sleep. I joined Babylin who was already in deep sleep then. Both of us woke up at around 3:30AM. The boys and our other 2 girl friends were just preparing to go to bed. Baby and I chatted and chatted, til its time to cook breakfast.

The team were awake already at around 7AM. After eating breakfast we took a walk going to the “stone” passing through La Luz Beach resort. We also enjoyed snorkeling afterwards.

I had a so much fun! My friends at Dell are one of the reasons why I love going to work. :)

Overlooking at TMC

We stayed on the 12th floor Nursing Tower of Medical City when Antoinette was confined due to Pneumonia with Asthma. After putting her to bed, I love staring at the window and admiring the beautiful sky with clouds and gazing through the lovely houses of one the popular subdivisions in Quezon City.

I have always wanted to own a house. I thought before that condo living is nice, but then, I realized that having a house and lot is much better. I have already scouted different developers and subdivisions nearby, and I fell in love to few model houses. I wanted to own one, but I am still earning for the down payment.

It’s a good thing that there are different agencies and developers that offer affordable house and lots. :)

I hope I could find a house for me and my family. Which we will be able to be able to call our own .

As of now, I have to focus on earning to have enough money for reservation and down payment.

Ciao! :)

A Hospital Stay

Little Antoinette 1 Comment »

After the wondrous party party from our Christmas party, I just found myself looking after my daughter in the hospital again. When I arrived from our Christmas party, she has fever already. My mother gave her paracetamol for fever and ambroxol for her cough. Sunday morning, she woke me up and told me that she’s having difficulty in breathing. I asked if we’ll go to the hospital already, she said not yet. We nebulized her with Ventolin and asked her to rest.

In the afternoon, I noticed that her breathing wasn’t normal anymore. I decided to bring her to the hospital. My cousin April accompanied us at the Medical City. We were escorted immediately to the emergency room. The resident doctors connected an apparatus to check the oxygen level in her. I didn’t know the medical terms that well, but the Nonet’s oxygen level was at 72. The normal is 95. :(

They immediately connected oxygen mask (with oxygen of course!) to help her breath. Then the doctors told me that they cannot let Nonet leave. In other words, she would be confined. :(

She was confined for 4 days with final diagnosis of Pneumonia with Bronchial Asthma. ? Well, we were aware that she is asthmatic. She is diagnosed to have asthma when she was months old only.

The maintenance provided is quite expensive, though. But that’s fine. As long as she would have a healthy body then spending money would be okay. Aside from that, I know that I would need to pray harder for her health. I brought her once to the St. Pio’s chapel.

I am planning to take her to one of churches dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua. I got her name from him.

I believe that God is merciful and that He loves me and my daughter that much. Maybe, that was just His of reminding me that above anybody else, I should be putting Antoinette on top of my priorities.

A Gift for Patty

I thought that the gift I wrapped for her isn’t enough. After the company’s Christmas party, I dropped by a “tiangge” which is few blocks away from our house. I went to a stall that showcases plus size lingerie! Wow! :)

I asked the sales lady how much would a nighties cost, and the price is reasonable. Though the price is reasonable enough, the cash I have in my purse isn’t enough. :(

I told the sales lady that I’ll just come back. Well, I hope that it would still be there when I return. I hope that the “tiangge” will run ’til January. :)

A Party to Remember!

It's my Life No Comments »

It has been almost a month since I have updated my online journal. There have been so many activities I had that I would cherish for the rest of my life. :) It’s seven days before Christmas, and I need to catch up with the wonderful things I want to share with you. :)

We had our company Christmas party and Thanksgiving Day last November 27. The theme of the said party was Harem. Well, I wasn’t able to dress up with my dream genie attire. Hehehe! I wasn’t successful in removing that flab I have. :(

I went to the party with my team mates and friends. We had the party at Crown Plaza Hotel beside Robinson’s Galleria. The food is great and I love the desserts! I wanted to eat more but I was more excited in watching the performances of the different LOBs at Dell. :)

Our department placed at second. My boss then won as the male star of the night. He was the genie!

I really enjoyed the party! I was able to spend sometime with my old team mates. I was able to meet new friends. It was an occasion that I would never forget! :)

God Always Answers Prayers

Uncategorized No Comments »

When the idea is not right, God says NO…

NO – when the idea is not the best.

NO – when the idea is absolutely wrong.

NO – when though it may help you, it could create problems for someone else.

When the time is not right, God says SLOW.

What a catastrophe it would be like if God answered every prayer at the snap of your fingers.

Do you know what would happen? God would become your servant, not your master.

Suddenly, God would be working for you instead of you working for God.

God’s delays are not God’s denials. God’s timing is perfect.

Patience is what we need in prayer.

When you are not right, God says GROW.

The selfish person has to grow in unselfishness.

The cautious person must grow in courage.

The timid person must grow in confidence.

The dominating person must grow in sensitivity.

The critical person must grow in tolerance.

The negative person must grow in positive attitudes.

The pleasure-seeking person must grow in compassion for suffering people.

When everything is alright, God says GO.

Then miracles happen:

A hopeless alcoholic is set free!

A drug addict finds release!

A doubter becomes as a child in his belief.

Diseased tissue responds to treatment, and healing begins.

The door to your dream suddenly swings open and there stands God saying, “Go!”
