The Seven Joys of Mary

Marian devotee No Comments »

I received an invitation in fb from kuya dhong regarding the upcoming Marian concert in our parish for the celebration of the barangay fiesta. Sto. Rosario de Pasig Church will be celebrating the feast on October 7. The name of the barangay tells us already that the patron saint is The Our Lady of the Rosary. :)

Every year, the parish music ministry holds Harana kay Maria. This year will be special because Bukas Palad Music Ministry would be one of the guests! It’s a good thing that my off from work is on weekends. I may be able to watch the said concert. :) I love Bukas Palad Music Ministry’s songs. Oh how I miss singing in the choir!

We got a new couch and we got it just in time for the fiesta. I am actually planning to get a pair of small chairs with spa covers to match our new sofa. :) Anyway, Bukas Palad Ministry has a new album entitled “Christify” – Christ transforms the whole world through his body and blood.

The concert will start at around 7PM on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Please come and join us in a night of songs and prayers. Sto. Rosario de Pasig Church is located along Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City. :)

Breaking Up is Hard to Do

relationship 3 Comments »

I just replied to one of the comments I received from this site. The comment was posted in my of post; Growing Old With You. I believe you all have seen The Wedding Singer and the song Growing Old With You has become very popular. If I am not mistaken, I was in college when this song became a hip.

If I get married, this song is one of the songs that I wanted to be played or sang in my wedding. In fact, I want my groom to sing this song for me. :) Well, I guess every couple, especially the married couple, wanted to grow old with each other, ‘til death do they part. :) It is very sweet! Although, that doesn’t happen all the time. :(

My reader commented that “he used to sing that song to her” but then everything has ended. I know how painful it is. I have been there. I’ve gone through a lot of heartaches and headaches, too; and breaking up is really hard to do. However, would you rather have the “short term pain” or the “long term pain”?

Sometimes, because of the fear we have, of losing the person we love even if it is not working out anymore, we tend to hold on and be blinded by our fears. We just keep the relationship and make believe that everything is okay. I am really proud of those who are brave enough to get out of a relationship that is not working anymore. They may still love and care for each other but they have accepted the fact that they are really not meant to be.  :(

Breaking up is really hard to do but we must have that courage to let go of relationship that is not working anymore. Let us remember that a relationship should always be a two-way street. As we all know, it takes two to tango. Both parties, should be working together to make a relationship a success.

Besides, let us not forget, that God has prepared someone special for us. How can we be with the person He prepared for us if, we will not learn to let go of the person who was used to teach us to be strong and wiser. ? We might have been in many “failed” relationships, who knows those experiences are actually preparations made for us. Until, the day we are ready to be in a happy and blessed relationship. :)

We shouldn’t lose faith in love. Believe that God has prepared someone special for us to be with for the rest of our lives. He will send him or her, in His own sweet time!

Smile God loves us all!

Pumpkin Costume for Halloween?!?

Feast and Festivities No Comments »

I just finished watching episode 5 of “Charmed” season 8. Piper made a pumpkin costume for her son Wyatt. It’s a pretty good costume, I thought. My daughter has been telling me that they are going to have a Halloween party at school and they will be wearing costumes. My sisters and I are planning to dress her up as a fairy or a wizard. She has a Wizard hut. It was gift she received from one of my friends about two Christmas’ ago. :) Knowing my daughter, who doesn’t like wearing gowns or dresses, I thought of having her wear a pumpkin costume. As much as I wanted her to wear a superhero suit, she will not wear any super girl or wonder woman costume! :)

I hope I would be able to find a pumpkin suit somewhere or if not, I hope I would be able to encourage her wear something “girly” outfit. :)

I wonder if the parents will be asked to wear costumes as well! If the teacher will request it, then I have a sexy sexy halloween costumes in mind to choose from already. :) It could be the goddess costumes wore by the Charmed ones in one of their episodes; or the genie outfit wore by Phoebe when she became one! :)

Come on people, don’t give me that expression! I still have one month to loose weight! :) Good luck to me! :P

Another day @ Work!

Work Stuff 1 Comment »

My day went smoothly at work today. Oh, thank God! Stress from work is normal and I am getting used to it. Anyway, I have been working for how many years now.  Somehow, I have learned how to balance my life. There are really times that, you get tired of working and you just wanted to take a break. Well, that’s exactly why we are entitled with vacation leaves. :) I used most of my vacation leaves before ney left. I really made sure that we’ll be able to spend more time and make the most out of it. He will be away for two years to work overseas. I only got 3 vacation leaves left and I have plotted my remaining leaves already. One will be the day after the barangay fiesta. I have really planned for it because definitely my very “respectful” neighbors will be drinking and singing and playing poker all night ‘til morning. I know that there is nothing we can do for the moment but to be patient. :)

I plotted my other two vacation leaves for my daughter’s birthday. I am not going to throw any party for her. We’ll just eat out and let her play at Tom’s World as much as she wanted. :)

I have learned to appreciate my work especially if I see other people’s work. My work as a customer care, technical support and sales rep all rolled into one, can be very tiring. However, all the hard work and stress will be paid off by a simple thank you and a appreciation from a happy customer. You cannot please all the customers but as long as you are doing, what you need to do and even giving extra effort to help them is something that you can be proud of yourself.

At the end of the day, I still give thanks and praise to God for giving me a good work; for blessing me with talents and for sharing it not only with the people I love and I care for but especially those who are most in need. :)

Ciao! :)

Padre Pio Pietrelcina

All About Faith 1 Comment »

Everyday when I go and leave work, I always see a signage pointing to Padre Pio’s church. I didn’t mind that signage though I know that it is pointing to a church. Maybe I wasn’t interested at all. I didn’t know who Padre Pio was, that’s why.

About 2 days ago, my cousin Anne asked me if I know how to go to Padre Pio’s church in Libis. I told her that I have seen a mark pointing to Padre Pio’s church, but haven’t been there. This afternoon, I decided to look at the said church. I’m telling you, the church is very solemn. I really felt good going to the church. I noticed the three life images inside the church. The images are Padre Pio’s, the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I loved to take pictures inside the church but of course, out of respect, I forbid myself.

Padre Pio’s Chapel in Libis, Quezon City

Since that was my first visit to the church, I uttered a wish (wishes actually!). I noticed that in front of Padre Pio’s life size statue, I observed that there are people writing. I thought that there could be relics of Padre Pio in there and people can write petitions. I went forward to write my petitions as well. I just found myself on the queue waiting for my turn to come closer to Padre Pio’s image. While waiting for my turn, I took a piece of paper from my bag and I started writing my petitions.

Padre Pio exposing Stigmata

When it is my turn, I went forward and whispered my prayers to Padre Pio. I told him that I do not know him personally but with all faithfulness, I asked him to pray with me and present my petitions to God. I felt serenity. :)

Uncorrupted body of Padre Pio. It was exhumed 40 years after his death

When I arrived home, I browsed the net and searched about Padre Pio Pietrelcina. I learned that he is also known as Padre Pio of Stigmata. Stigmata are bodily marks, causing pain and bleeding in locations that correspond to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ. The first occurrence of stigmata was in September 1918, and it ended until the end of his life in 1968. Padre Pio had a poor health as well. He suffered illness after illness; operations after operations. He died because of health deterioration. Pope John Paul II canonized him as saint in June 16, 2002. Like many other faithful who were elevated to sainthood, his body is uncorrupted when it was exhumed in 2008, 40 years after his death. :)

When I was reading the church’s mass schedule, there is always anointing of the holy oil. I just realized that Padre Pio had gone through spiritual and physical sufferings when he was alive. Yet, he was able to win that battle because of his great love and faith to God.

Chapel’s Schedule

I believe that we can offer a request to Padre Pio to join us praying before God our pleas. He suffered numerous illnesses when he was living on earth, therefore he knew the pain that people suffering from cancer, may it be a breast, brain cancer or any forms of illnesses people go through. People suffering from grave illnesses may try to visit the said chapel in Libis. Please bring with you great faith and trust to God Almighty. It is located between Honda Cars and Eastwood City.

Saint Pio is said to be one of the popular saints in the world. Well, I guess he would be one of my favorite saints now along with the 7 Archangels, St. Anthony de Padua, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare of Assisi, St. Bernadette of Lourdes and St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

Love the company that provides you Bread and Butter!

Work Stuff 1 Comment »

True. However, I believe that it would be more appropriate to love and enjoy the field and the type of work you have chosen. Our team had a brown bag session with our HR Generalist last night. I never thought that Miss Roch would be as gentle as she was last night. She said that the reason my we are holding the brown bag session is because she heard about mass resignation from our team. Personally, I thought of resigning early next year if my tbr would continue to treat me like an idiot. However, our Generalist was able to enlighten us of being part of the company where we at right now. She made me realize not be blinded by the amount of salary being offered but look at the salary and the benefits as a package. She admitted that, there could be a better company than, our company elsewhere. But, before leaving our current employer, check first if the new company will be able to provide growth and development in our career.

I was enlightened with our session with Miss Roch. She made me realized a lot of things. She made me love my work more than before. :) I am looking forward with another brown bag with you Miss Roch.

Breakfast with Friends

It's my Life 1 Comment »

My friend Julius is spending his 5-day vacation this week. He just arrived this morning from Singapore. He invited us for a buffet breakfast at Something Fishy Restaurant in Eastwood. The said restaurant is just few steps away from my office. I took my 1-hour break at around 7AM this morning so I can join them in breakfast. I am happy to see my friends Manok, Arvie, Motmot, Des and Julius. When I left my previous company, I haven’t had enough time to talk and bond with them. Des and Julius left the company after I left. Manok, Arvie and Motmot are still there. Well, I am happy to see them. I missed them so much! :)

With Manoline and Arvie

Our chitchat has to cut short because I needed to leave at exactly 8AM. :( Well I hope to see them again. I will be trying my luck of working abroad next year. Of course, I need to get a passport first. I would also try applying for medical and healthcare jobs! Who knows, they might need a technical support in their department! :)

Thanks Julius for a scrumptious breakfast!

Count Your Blessings

Something Good No Comments »

I was feeling low yesterday. :( I feel that my self-esteem is going down these past few days. I even cried in the office yesterday because I didn’t like the way I am treated by one of my support person in my team. I believe that he didn’t want me to feel that way, and he doesn’t intend to hurt my feelings. But I guess, he should also be sensitive on other people’s feelings. These past few days were really a disaster to me. :( I am losing my self-confidence because he made me feel stupid. The way he talked to me and asked me to do things made me feel an idiot. I know that I am not. I just cannot take the hurt and the pain that I just cried yesterday. Thank God, I have my friends to comfort me. I have my previous RS’s to lift my spirit. Thank you guys, and I love you all. :)

On my way home yesterday, I started to ponder why my life has been a mess. Well I thought so. I know that I have sinned and I know that I have to pay for it. But I also know that God, is a loving and a forgiving God. I even asked myself, why I have not been so lucky at work and in love. Many people would say that if you’re not lucky in love then you will be lucky in work, and vice versa. I do not say that I am that less fortunate in love. My relationship with ney is okay. Like a calm water in lake. Stagnant. Just there, not moving, not growing. Just all right.

I have been struggling with my sales skills at work. Add to that is the way I am being treated by my team based support. :(

I feel so sad and low.  I know for sure that these things happen for a reason. I believe that I will not be in a position like this if I cannot handle it. I tried to be positive as much as I can. Then, I decided to count my blessings. :) I have issues at work and I have issues in love. Yet God has given me so much blessings that I sometimes overlooked. I counted and counted every single blessing that I receive and continue to receive, that I got tired of counting and I just stop, smiling. :)

I realized that life would be boring and dull without challenges. Problems, difficulties or troubles whatever you want to call it, are there to make us strong, to teach us lessons and to teach us to be faithful.

I was in tears while I pray before I go to bed yesterday. I told God that I believe in His love for me and that He will not forsake me.

When I woke up last night, I checked my phone and one of friends sent me a text message. I was teary eyes when I read his message;

“No one is secured than the one who is held in God’s hands! Safety is not found in the absence of danger but in the presence of God.”

It may looks like a coincidence, but I believe that it God’s way of assuring me that He will always be there for me no matter what; that I should be faithful all the time. Amen.

Birthday Plan

Little Antoinette No Comments »

My daughter will turn five years old this coming October. My original plan is to treat her to Subic Safari or to Manila Ocean Park. Well, plans changed due to financial issues. I told her that instead of going those parks, we would just treat her classmates with spaghetti, fried chicken, cake and ice cream. Then, I will let her play in Tom’s world as much as she wanted and buy some toys at Toys R Us!

She’s happy to hear about my plan. I would like to throw a party for her but then, it would be wise to save than to spend especially during the time of crisis. What is important is that we will celebrate her birthday and thank the Lord for her life and for another happy year. :)

I know that my daughter’s birthday this year will be different from her past birthdays, because her daddy will not be around. Well, my daughter is intelligent enough why her father is away. Anyway, daddy is just a phone call away! :)

My Stamp Collection

It's my Life No Comments »

So much of the Ondoy stuff, let us talk about something that will lighten our spirits high. Hehehe! I believe that each one of us has passions on collecting different things that makes us feel happy. There are people who love collecting Transformers, different Rosary, angel figurines and angel stuff, baseball caps, mugs, clowns and many more. I know someone who collects Precious Moments figurines. She has great collections and it is a high price collections. :)

My sister Patty loves collecting earrings, different kinds of earrings! My youngest sister Pau loves collecting different stuff, that I sometimes get confused what specific item she loves to collect. Hahaha! But, the three of us love collecting books. As in! Going to bookstore is one thing that is common to the three of us. :)

The reason why I brought up the “collecting” is because, last Saturday while I arranged my things, I found an old brown envelope among my things. When I opened it, I found my stamp collection in there! I have forgotten about it until yesterday. I started collecting different stamps when I was in Highschool. Electronic mail isn’t a hip then yet. My classmate influenced me and I started my own stamp collection. I do not remember anymore why I stopped but maybe because I have been busy and postal mail has been taken over by email. Although, I still prefers postal mail being sent during holidays and special occasions like birthdays! :)

I took few shots of my collections. It’s so hard to lay them all because the stamps are being blown by the fun. We do not have a/c. :( I haven’t been able to place my stamps in an album for I don’t remember finding one yet. What I am thinking is to make my own stamp album. It is very interesting how stamps are being made and how each stamp get the print on them. Well, let’s talk about stamps and all about it next time. :)

For now, let me show you some of the stamps I have collected in the past. Enjoy!

Lesson Learned from Ondoy

In the News No Comments »

I know that we learned a lot from the Ondoy incident not only as an individual but also as a community and a country as a whole. The flood we experienced then was also our fault. Whether we admit it or not, it is the truth. I don’t think we cannot blame God for what happened. It was a natural disaster and the aftermath that we experienced is caused by our irresponsibility as well. :(

What have we done to the trees in Antipolo mountains? As long as we see a tree and an opportunity to cut, we grab that opportunity. People developed the said mountain for housing projects. It may seem a good project though. However, have we considered situations like Ondoy? The roots of the trees hold the land and sip the water that will prevent flooding. Everyone of us has been taught about it when we’re in elementary.

People in the city have forgotten to segregate our waste and garbage that made clogged the drainage systems causing big flood around the metro. We have been taught not once but many times about waste segregation. But, are we doing it?

Our emergency departments have learned that their tools and equipment are not enough yet. This maybe one of the reasons why many lives have been sacrificed during Ondoy’s rage.

Typhoon is a natural occurrence. It happens with a purpose just like the many events in our lives. The Ondoy incident could have been a wake up call to us as well. I just hope that we have learned from it. :)

I was watching Umagang Kay Ganda this morning, and they remembered last year’s Ondoy tragedy. The ABS-CBN’s rescue teams showed state of art facilities and equipment that can be used not only during typhoon emergency, but in different natural and man-made disasters. I just hope that they would add a heated mattress pads for elderly people who will be rescued especially from flood.

I still believe that God loves the Philippines and its people. There is no doubt about it! :)

Ciao! :)

The Unsung Heroes

In the News Comments Off

During the rage of Ondoy, Filipinos have shown bayanihan one more time. Everyone found a way to help one another. I salute those who risk their lives in rescuing the lives of those people who were in great danger. They were aware the danger in their lives as well, but not because it was a call of duty but above it was the love for their neighbor that made them do what they did. I also want to give honor to the doctors and volunteers of PAWS headed by Dr. Will. More often that not, disasters like Ondoy, make people secure themselves first and forget about their animal friends and pets. It is a good thing to know that there are different animal organizations like the Philippine Animal Welfare Society; that look after the welfare of animals especially during emergency like Ondoy.

They are the unsung heroes of our society today. I believe that each one of us is an unsung hero to someone. Let us continue to be one, not only during the time of need but as much as we can.

Ciao!:)
