National Heroes Day!

History No Comments »

It is a national holiday today in the Philippines. Today we celebrate National Heroes Day. We remember the bravery shown by our heroes to protect our country.

Now that we are in modern times, we do not need to shed a blood or to die to become a hero. Heroism for me is standing for what you believe in for the benefit of others; for the goodness of the poor the protection of the weak.

In our lives, we have our own heroes that we look up to, heroes that become our inspiration to continue our life’s journey. :)

Yet, even if we are now leaving in the world of computers and automations, we should always remember that without the courage shown by our heroes, we will not be able to taste the sweetness of freedom!

Happy National Heroes Day!

Run for A New Shoes!

lifestyle Comments Off

Milo’s recent project has benefited many children all over the Philippines. If you will participate in the said marathon, a child will get a pair of shoes! I hope they would provide men’s running shorts as well. :)

I would love to participate in the said marathon but I am worry about my asthma. :( One of the team managers I have known told me that I do not need to run all the time. I can actually walk if I wanted to. She said that it was really fun! You get to enjoy running with friends and meeting new friends, at the same time you are running for a cause! :)

Well, I am looking forward on their next marathon and I hope that I will be able to participate in it!

Amazing Creations

We are watching Kap’s amazing stories last night. The featured stories are about Life. The show presented how a fish called Goby climbed a rock to get over the fresh water and lay eggs in there. The show also presented the mutual relationships of a Barbel fish and a Hippopotamus. The Barbel fish fed on the parasites that are on the Hippo’s body. It is so fascinating to watch how the Hippo opens its mouth for the Barbel can clean its mouth and eat the left over food in there! :)

We also have seen how small fish protects each other from big fish like sharks. It is so touching to watch how a daddy clown fish takes care of the newborn eggs in the protection of the coral reefs! I cannot help but to remember the movie, “Finding Nemo” as I watch the daddy clown fish!

The sea could be a dangerous place but its inhabitants have learned how to survive in the big sea! God’s power is so overwhelming by simply looking on those sea creatures, and the way they mingle with each other. :)

Geography reports that the earth is composed of 25% land and 75% water. Men could have located Titanic but the ocean is so vast that there could be more things, creatures or even civilizations that are hidden from men like the Atlantis. Many would say that it is just a fictional civilization, but the enormous water that surrounds our land, would just be hiding Atlantis!

Well, only God knows whether He will allow us to discover the underwater or the universe’s secrets! What is important is that we have known His powers and His love for us; that we should always be faithful and grateful for all the wonders around us!

A Home Library?

lifestyle No Comments »

My sisters and I all love books. We love looking at our collections and reading them. Yesterday, I finished covering the new books that Patty bought with plastics. She got the series of Chronicles of Narnia. Well, she actually missed getting book 2 which is “Prince Caspian” but she was able to buy the other 5 books. Pauline bought the first book called, “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.”

We have a lot of books at home, from classic novels to romance pocket books to references! Sometime, we really don’t know how to position those books. We thought of getting book cabinets, or just U shaped desks to place our books and at the same time read those books on it. The only problem we have is that we do not have enough space at home anymore. :) We live in a small apartment and getting a new furniture will be impossible. :)

That’s why my sisters and I decided that we’ll start looking for a house and lot where we can set a room as our library! I always wanted to have a library at home! I believe that we’ll be able to buy a house and have a home library soon!

God bless us!

Antoinette is the Sunshine of My Life

motherhood Comments Off

I am working on my blog this early this morning when my daughter greeted me a, good morning! She is used to getting up early because her class is at 10Am and she loves watching Sponge Bob Square Pants and Dora the Explorer on channel 2. Since she woke up early than Dora and Sponge’s time slot, she asked me to carry her first and sang for her.

My computer is playing, “You are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder. As I sang the song to her, she fell asleep again. :)

Having a baby really turned my world around. My daughter has been my inspiration and strength. She has always been the sunshine during the low moments of life.

I thank the Lord for the wonderful gift He gave me.

Help Me be Good

My Books No Comments »

I received a text message from my Grolier agent that they have a new product called Help Me Be Good. It is a 29-volume book, which is all about good moral and right conduct. I checked on the Grolier’s website and the new book is very interesting. My agent also told me that they will be giving free set of book and CDs if I get Help Me Be Good. The cash price is Php 13800! I can get the said book for installment basis, too.

Well, now is not the right for me to get Antoinette the new book. But, I would definitely get her one!

Grolier always offers good books and learning materials for our children. The price of their items may be high, but the knowledge and information our children will get from their books are priceless! :)

Aside from it, Grolier also offers other educational information not only for students but for teachers and parents as well. Information that one can be used as lsat prep. :)

Nonet Wore a Saya :)

History, Little Antoinette No Comments »

In celebration of Linggo ng Wika, my daughter’s school had a program about it. I was so thankful to my area manager, Ma’am Richee for allowing me to be on half day last Friday. :) It was my daughter’s first performance and I wanted to see it. It was raining hard last Friday that the school officials decided to hold the program inside one of the school’s classrooms.

My aunt Evelyn is a dressmaker and she has some extra cloths that she can make Antoinette’s costume. :) I helped my mother look for a printed cloth that can be made into Nonet’s skirt or saya, and a lace to for her kimona. :) We found pink printed cloth, which was made into her skirt and a nice lace for her tops. Mama bought her pair of native slippers to go with her costume. :)

I bought puto or rice cake for the feast after the program. The kinder students declaimed, “Ang Batang Munti” and they danced to the tune of “Sampung Mga Daliri”. They kids were all well applauded. :)

I am so proud of my little girl! :) The performance was not as perfect as the teachers would have wanted it to be. However, the very cute children made the performance a pleasing one!

I know that the said show would only be the first of many more. Antoinette is only at kinder, and I know that she will be doing more performances as she step on elementary. Well that’s going to be 2 years from now!

God bless her!

My youngest sister Pauline will have their class outing in Laguna today. Last night as she prepared for today’s trip, she checked on my closet and look for something that she could wear as hip hop clothes! As far as I know, I do not have any clothes like, but her creativity came out and she was able to dress up hip hop. She’s a third year Broadcast Communication student and her talent and creative skills really fit her course. She enjoys her course so much. :)

We told her to enjoy but be very careful.

God bless their trip!

The Art of Acceptance

Something Good 1 Comment »

I sat on one of the pews in the church yesterday. I have not heard the mass on that schedule for a long time. I came in about 5 minutes earlier. The priest and the church servants are already lining up outside the church, getting ready for the processional. As the commentator finished introducing the priest to lead the mass, the choir started singing the entrance hymn.

He really plays the piano so well. As I listen to the soothing sound of the choir’s voices and the music that accompany their song, my memory began to go back in time. I have known him since I was 18. I have been part of their family not because of any romantic relationship we had but his brothers and sister and his parents treated me as part of them. I remember spending a new year with them. I have witnessed him cry and got broken hearted. I was his silent absorber. :(

I have cried because of him a long time ago. I had fallen in love many times after him but those are all long gone and forgotten. But, he remained in my heart. The last serious talk that we had was before he got married.

I told him that I’m going to get married too because he’s getting married already. He told me that I have a bright future ahead. He said that I should take care of my family and give my mother a good life. He told me not to get married yet. That talk happened about 5 years ago. :(

The Lord knows everything that is inside my heart. As I kneel down and pray, a reflection came into me. God showed me the three men I have love in my life. Two of them were just an unrequited love only; or what my Ninang Cher called as a “One Way Street” love. God showed me my pianist, my TM and my first love. As I looked each one of them, I told the Lord that in reality I would have picked my first love, because he knows and accepts me as I am. However, we have many differences especially when it comes to faith. Then, I whispered to God that if I would be given a chance, to choose whom I would want to be with for the rest of life, then it would be my pianist.

The Lord answered back; He told me that I have known him for more than a decade. My pianist had the chance on me many years ago. The Lord told me that if he has a feelings for me then, then he should have taken the chance to let me know about it. He is now married with two sons. The Lord made me realized that if he didn’t love me then, he would never will, especially now. :(

As I end my prayers, I felt the hurt, but also felt freedom. I learned to set myself free from that unrequited love; a liberation that I should have done a long time ago. I should have accepted that truth about five years ago.

In our lives, we have a lot of hopes and experiences that we should have let go a long time ago. Instead, we continue to hold on to those things that hinders us to move on. I know that it is not easy to let go of something that you are hoping to happen or to get. But, it could also be the reason why we’re not able to notice the better things given to us instead of it.

Learning to accept the things or people we can never have will make our lives easier and happier. The process may not be that easy though. Cry if you would but always remember and believe that God has prepared the best for us. That He would reveal His gift in His own sweet time.

Just have faith. God loves us!

Time for a New Bed???

lifestyle Comments Off

The stainless bed that ney bought for Nonet and I is already 5 years old. When we had our room cleaning last Sunday, I noticed that one of the middle part of the bed is already bended. We tried to remedy it by placing a support underneath it. I just hope that the bed would be able to carry our weight! :)

I am thinking of retiring the stainless frame of the bed and get one of the log beds I have seen in the mall. We will just recycle the old foam that we have to use on the bed. I checked the price of the one that I like, and I think that I will not be able to get a replacement bed sooner! Hehehe!!! :)

Well, I will be keeping the picture of the bed ‘til I have enough money to get one for me and my daughter! :)

Ciao! :)

Affirmations, Something Good No Comments »

I am experiencing financial difficulties now a days. There are so much debts to pay but the money I have is not enough to pay for all the bills. I really don’t know how or whom I can borrow money from, but I am not losing any hope. I keep my faith and spirit high. I believe that help from God will come somewhere.

While I am taking a rest, I go through the pages of Chicken Soup for the Soul. I stumbled on this article. I hope that this will make you feel secured. God loves us!

A Creed For Those Who Have Suffered

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve..
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey..
I asked for health, that I might do great things..
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things..
I asked for riches, that I might be happy..
I was given poverty, that I might be wise..
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men..
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God..
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life..
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things..
I got nothing I asked for – but everything I had hoped for. Almost despite myself,
my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among men, most richly blessed!

Environment Friendly Tote

lifestyle No Comments »

I went to a popular supermarket over the weekends and it is good to know that they are being environment friendly! :) Customers are provided with promotional tote bags that they can use for their groceries instead of the traditional plastic bags. We are all aware of the harm that plastics can do to nature.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When we had our team building in Los Banos, Laguna last April, I found that most of the stores there are using brown bags for their goods. I hope that the use of brown bags will be implemented in Manila as well. :)

The use of tote bags for groceries is a good start, too. We should also learn how to recycle the plastic bags that we have so that production of it will be minimized.

Let us always remember that we only have one earth. Let us love and take care of it! :)
