Oliva Cigar for Grandpa

Uncategorized No Comments »

I received a text message from ney this morning. He said that he is talking to his father over breakfast. Antoinette’s paternal grandfather is giving ney pieces of advise on how he will survive in a different country. Ney father is one of those we call ex-abroad. His father stayed overseas for more than 10 years. Since, this will be the first time that ney will be travelling and would be away for 2 years, his father is constantly giving him some heads up! :)

Ney asked him about the “pasalubong” he would want to receive, well, Antoinette’s lolo told ney that a box of oliva cigars will do! :)

Ney is the youngest of two siblings. He’s been with his parents all his life and I know that his parents are worried about him as well. Yet, ney needs to this for himself as well.

Oh dear God, please bless ney. Amen.

I Got Nancy Drew! :)

It's my Life 1 Comment »

We ney and I and our daughter went to Mall of Asia, we passed by BookSale bookstore. There I was able to buy Books 4 and 18 of Nancy Drew’s Mystery Series. My other Hardy Boys books were bought from Booksale. So whenever, I see a booksale outlet, I stopped a while and check if a Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew series is on sale. :) When I went to the bank last Friday, I decided to drop by SM Megamall and check Booksale. They have a branch in the said mall.

I am starting to collect Nancy Drew’s Mystery Series Books. The yellow-hardbound books. I got Hardy Boys’ books 1-12 already. I am planning to get Nancy Drews’ books 1-12 as well, then I will start buying books 13 for both series. I have visited different bookstores already trying to find Nancy Drew’s Book 1 but I failed. So when I got the chance to drop by at Booksale’s branch in SM Megamall, I went there. I almost lose hope when I got to the store. There were several Nancy Drew and Hardy Books on Sale but those were not the one’s I am looking for. I decided to ask the salesperson and she showed me some of the hardbound Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mystery books. I am so glad and thankful that Nancy Drew Mystery book 1 was there. I got the book right away and paid for it. The book is not in a very good condition. It seems to me that it got wet for some reasons. I checked on the pages and those are complete. :)

When I went to Galleria, I couldn’t help myself and bought books 2 and 3 of the said series from National Bookstore. Luckily, there was a 20% discount off the price for the books. Yipee!!!

Right now, I already got Series 1-4. Those are (1) The Secret of the Old Clock; (2) The Hidden Staircase; (3) The Bungalow Mystery and (4) The Mystery at Lilac Inn. I get books 5 and 6, as soon as I have the budget for them. Oh I really love those series!

For My Birthday

It's my Life No Comments »

Pau’s and mine’s birthday is just 7 days apart. When she got the phone, I decided to get myself my birthday gift as well. :) I went through the different gadgets stalls and found there a new digital camera! I fell inlove with the specs and the price! I don’t need a DSLR type of camera. I used camera for the main purpose of “capturing moments for memories”. It is a 10.2 MP camera with 5X optical zoom. I have always wanted Nikon’s 10X optical zoom but I haven’t found that model from any camera stores I went to. I bet it would cost around 30K. Wew!

The sales person hand me over their sample. I checked on it and I fell in love with it! So, after we finish our transaction at Nokia, we went to AV Surfer and got me the Samsung ES65 Digicam. Yey!  I can pay it in terms as well. :) One thing I love about the camera is that I can adjust the level of pixels I can use. If the picture will be uploaded then I can just set it to either 1, 3 or 4MP. So that the pictures will be easily uploaded.

After getting the camera, we went to the department store’s mens ties department and I got ney a Batman-designed necktie. Well, he will use it for any special gathering in his new found job! He loves Batman that’s I got it. :) He love it!

N2700 for Pauline

family No Comments »

In my previous post I told you that my youngest sister will be turning 18 this month. The planned beach will not push through anymore because our schedules will not meet. :( Aside from that, we are on tight budget since my daughter will be going to school this June. To compensate for the “lost outing”, I got her instead a new cellphone. Like me, Pau doesn’t like a very high end phone. She just wanted a simple yet elegant phone. Small and thin. Has music player and atleast 2MP of camera.

We went to Galleria last Monday with our Auntie Tina, Nonet and ney. We went to Nokia store and checked on the phones there. It just took her about 15 minutes to decide on which phone she would get since she has the specifications on mind already. She ended up getting Nokia 2700 Classic phone. I am glad that it’s the model she got because it is very affordable and I can pay it in terms (Thanks Auntie Tina! :) ). The phone has quite good specifications and it really met my sister’s want. It wasn’t a latest model of Nokia. Infact it was released about a year ago, July 2009 to be exact. It has a 2MP camera, supports bluetooth technology, has Music player for MP3 and MP4. It came with a 1GB microSD RAM. It is a very awesome phone!

She really enjoyed it. I told her to take care and value it because I need to work harder to pay for it. Well, I know that my sister would. :)

Happy birthday in advance Pau and enjoy your new phone! God bless!

Moon and Venus

In the News Comments Off

I met ney at Galleria last Sunday. He will spend time with us since I filed a 2-day vacation leave from the office. I cross the newly repaired footbridge in Rosario and I noticed there were several bypasser who stood by and busy taking picture of something. I stopped and checked what’s keeping them busy. When I looked up the sky, I saw an celestial event that made me held my breath. I saw a star on top of the crescent moon. My recollection is so poor but I know that I have read about that sign somewhere. I really got nervous and prayed to God that hopefully everything is going to be okay and the scene I have witnessed is just an ordinary scene, and that I shouldn’t worry much. Nevertheless, I sent a text message to my sisters who were at home to witness that scene. Too, bad I wasn’t able to take a picture of it. The mobile phone that I was using doesn’t have any camera. :(

I found a picture though from the net that looks like what I saw.

The following day I learned from the news, that the heavenly phenomenon was caused by the planet venus passing through our moon. I didn’t catch the name of this type of eclipse but the said scene was an eclipse. It was said that the said eclipse is similar to the symbol of our Muslim brothers and sisters religion, Islam. That the recent eclipse will bring good luck for them. :)

I am happy to know that it will bring good fortune to our Muslim brothers, but I hope and I pray that it will also bring good luck to all the world. I pray that the peace that we always dream off will soon turn into reality.

God bless everybody!

God, open my Eyes

Something Good No Comments »

I found a book for Antoinette while I am in search for Nancy Drew’s Mystery Stories book number 1. My eyes were caught by the book’s design and title. :) It was only this afternoon when I was able to browse the pages of the book. I am glad that I got this one for her. :)

The book is called Precious Moments of Inspiration: Verses by Helen Steiner Rice and Illustratios by Samuel J. Butcher. It’s full of very encouraging lines that would really uplift our spirits especially during the lowest point of our lives. Let me give you a sample.. Hope this will enlighten your weary heart.. :)

God open my eyes so I may see and feel Your presence close to me. Give me strenght for my stumbling feet as I battle the crowd on life’s busy street, and widen the vision of my unseeing eyes so in passing faces I’ll recognize not just stranger, unloved and unknown,  but a friend with a heart that is much like my own. Give me perception to make me aware that scattered profusely on life’s thoroughfare are the best gifts of God that we daily pass by as we look at the world with an unseeing eye.

Sunday Dancing

It's my Life 1 Comment »

It’s Sunday again! This is the time for the family to relax and loosen up. After my mother finished  listening to the radio for the great music of 60s, 70s and 80s, we played some of our dance cds and started dancing to the tunes hoping for a quick weight loss! :) We enjoyed dancing to the music of VST and Company’s Rock Baby Rock, Swing and Awitin Mo At Isasayaw Ko! :) I am not sure if you still remember these songs. It was not released during our genre but I love those songs. :) You can ask your parents about this legendary OPM group and I believe that they would agree with me when I say that VST sang great song and made good music! :)

Listen to these and you will really find yourself on the groove! :)

Enjoy it ?!? I know you did. :)

Flores de Mayo

Feast and Festivities No Comments »

The reason why I hurried last Friday to buy Antoinette a pair of black shoes is because she will participate in our parish’s May Flower Devotion. She was asked by my Aunt Evelyn to join the other kids in our looban to offer flowers to Mama Mary in the church. I remember the time when I used to accompany my youngest sister Pauline to join in this kind of activities. :) How time flies so fast! Really.. :)

Here in the Philippines we call May Flower Devotion as Flores de May (Flowers of May). Since May is part of our summer seasons, many flowers bloom at their best. The church is being decorated wtih beautiful flowers and people come to the church to offer flower wearing their Sunday’s best! :)

Mayflower

The devotion was started with a prayer and with praying the rosary. It has been a while since I last prayed the holy rosary and I really felt good while praying it. After the prayers, the children were called to line up and they started walking down to offer flowers.

Antoinette was given a white rose to offer to Mary. It was a blissful moment watching her walk down the aisle carrying flowers! :) I hope to see her someday walk  down the aisle for my wedding! Hehehe!!! :) It will happen I know but not very soon. :)

I opt to take pictures and shoot a video but our camera and video cam are low bat! So bad! Well, she will also join the Grand Paalay on May 29 and I will make sure that our cameras are charged. I will upload the video then for you to see! :)

I hope that the prayers we offer together with the flowers will be heard and granted. Oh please Mama Mary pray for us and help us pray to God for a rain. People are not the only ones who suffer but plants and animals, too. Please please pray with us.

Ciao! :)

Ready for School?

Little Antoinette No Comments »

I am so excited about the thought that my daughter will finally go to school this June! :) She is 4 1/2 years old and she will be in kindergarden. :) We have inqured to a nearby pre-schools and the tuition is a bit high. Well, I guess the reason behind it is because pre-school is the most challenging level in the education ladder. A pre-school teacher may need a long string of patience and should be child friendly. I have dreamt of becoming a pre-school before, but I guess I do not possess enough patience needed to become one. :)

I went to Galleria last Friday to buy Antoinette a pair of black shoes. It seems early to buy her shoes but since she’s going to use it yesterday for the May Flower devotion, I decided to get her one. :) There are different varieties and brands that offer kid’s black shoes. I checked on the style and the quality and ofcourse the price of each pair. I found a few pairs that are on sale but the available sizes will not fit her. I went to those “branded” ones and ended up getting a Gibi shoes worth Php 800! We’re not a well to do family but we are not also the poorest of the poor. Getting a pair of shoes for a pre-schooler that cost around a thousand doesn’t seem to be practical. But then, since she will be using it and I thought it will fit her okay, I bought the shoes.

She is fast asleep when I arrived home. I showed my mother what I bought. She tried to convince herself that the one I got is worth buying. Hehehe! When Tonet woke up, she tried the shoes on and it was too big for her! :( Tonet put on socks and wear the shoes again but it was really big. I told my mother that we’ll just have it exchange with a pair that will fit her okay.

The following day (yesterday), we went back to the mall and got an exchange. I went to Customer Service first and reported the incident. Then we went to Children’s Shoes area and let my daughter tried on several pairs until we got the right one for her. It is a Barbie shoes which is currently on Sale! :) It’s original price is around Php 899 but we got it only for Php 399! Wow! What a savings! Since we can no longer refund the other amout, I decided to get her a Disney Princess school bag which is on Sale as well! :) I was very happy because, we were able to buy her a pair of shoes and a school bag. :)

I will visit those schools probably this week and decide which school she will go to. We are all excited about her going to school. My sister Patty said that she will take a leave on Tonet’s first day of school.  :)

I hope that my she will do good in school. I hope that God will bless her and me and her father so that we will be able to support her education until she finish college. :)

Lines like Tiger’s?

Uncategorized 3 Comments »

My sisters and I were talking about going to the beach or a resort to celebrate Pau’s birthday. Pauline will turn 18 this month! :) Since, we do not have the money to throw a big party for her, we are thinking of just a small celebration with family and her closest friends. Patty suggested that we celebrate it in a resort. She said that we’ll take advantage of the occasion for our “annual” swimming gallore! :)

Then she said that she’s going to wear her “sexiest swimming outfit”! Hahaha!!! Well, if you would know my sister you would really laugh at that statement. :) Then, I asked her what is she going to do with her cellulites? Well, there are many people who worry about cellulites lines and cellulite cures. Cellulites are those dimpled appearance of the skin that can be found on hips, thighs, and buttocks. It has been said that cellulites are much more common in women than in men. The differences of the how the fat, muscle, and connective tissues distributed in men and women’s skin causes cellulites to appear commonly in women.

She said that she still has 2 weeks to work on it! There are a lot of creams and ointments available in the market that she can use to get rid of it! :)

Well, we are all excited about this occasion. I hope that our “planned” outing will push through. I also need some time to relax and energize! :)

Ciao! :)

Our Lady of Fatima

All About Faith 1 Comment »

I was just talking to Ate Susan about the recent election and I told him that today is Mar Roxas’ birthday. She told me that today we also remember Mary’s apparition in Fatima, Portugal. Today marks the 93rd years of Mama Mary’s apparition in Fatima. Here is a link for a brief history of Fatima.

There has been a lot of miracles associated in the said apparition but the most famous of all is the miracle of the Dancing Sun.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The three children of Fatima are Lucia dos Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto. Jacinta and Francisco passed away at a young age. Jacinta was 10 while Francisco was 11. Lucia died at the age of  98.

Like many other apparitions, Mama Mary’s constant message to the people is to pray, pray for one another and repent. I know that each one of us has our own personal relationship with the blessed mother. In my own personal relationship with her, I know and I feel her motherly love and care always inspite of all my shortcomings.

Mama Mary pray for us.
