Marriage

There was once a man and woman who had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They kept no secrets from each other except that the old woman had a shoebox in the top of her closet that she cautioned
her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the
little old man took down the shoebox and took it to his wife’s bedside.

She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted doilies and a stack of money totaling $25,000. He asked her about the contents. “When we were to be married, she said, “my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doily.”

The little old man was so moved, he had to fight back tears. Only two precious doilies were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He
almost burst with happiness. “Honey,” he said “that explains the doilies, but what about
all of this money? Where did it come from?” “Oh,” she said, “that’s the money I made from selling the doilies.

Nice… What do I do when I get mad with honey? Well, I just sing and read books! :)

Horse Back Riding

lifestyle No Comments »

One of the options we have considered for our team building is going to Baguio or to Tagaytay. I love going to Baguio! I enjoy the cold weather, the strawberries, the vegetables and I love horse back riding! Horses may look like stiff and aloof animals but I find them very calm and friendly! Well, I am not an equestrian but I love to ride on horses (with a guide of course!). I enjoy watching Mikee Cojuangco compete in different equestrian competition. How I dreamed of wearing one of those lovely breeches! :)

When I was kid, I remember riding on my paternal uncle’s horse going to the mountains. He used his horse for work. The horse carries “coconuts” from the mountains. Oh that horse was huge and strong! :)

Well, we may have decided to spend our team building off the shore, but I can always visit Baguio or Tagaytay with my family and enjoy riding on horses!!!

SAT Online

lifestyle No Comments »

While I am waiting for a response from the resort that I have inquired, I browse the net and found several sites that offers sat prep courses! :) For the benefit of those who are wondering what SAT is, SAT means Scholastic Aptitude Test or Scholastic Assessment Test. It is often required by many universities in the United States. It’s a good thing that there are different preparatory courses online which will give incoming freshmen students a high possibility of being admitted into their own choice of University.

Well, my daughter is only 4 years old and so far, we have no plans of sending her to any US University. But, we can never tell what the future holds! Who knows, she may have an oppurtunity to study in one of the prestigious Universities in the US someday! :)

Fruits Should be Eaten on an Empty Stomach

Beauty and Health 2 Comments »

It does makes sense though! Most of the fine dining restos I had been so far, offers fruits as appetizers instead of desserts. My sister sent an email about eating fruits as appetizers if you would want to lose weight. I know many of you have read this already. But for those who have not, here it goes.. :)

EATING FRUITS

It’s long but very informative:

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It’s not as easy as you think. It’s important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let’s say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.
;
So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining - every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet etc - actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will not happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don’t even drink juice that has been heated up. Don’t eat cooked fruits because you don’t get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE: Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium..

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can you believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this ’sludge’ reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup, warm water or warm beer after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE’: (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!) Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack . Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let’s be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive..

Hope this helps! If it did, share it! :)

Earthquake hits Manila

Uncategorized No Comments »

Thank God it wasn’t that strong. I was feeding the cats yesterday, when my aunt called my attention telling me that an earthquake is happening. I felt dizzy though, but since it’s already past 1PM then, I thought that I was only sleepy. My aunt kept on saying that there is an earthquake so I stood up and felt it. The only word I was able to say was “Oh my God”.

I was shaking when I went into the house. My aunt’s voice was calm but I felt her fear. My sister who was on the 19th floor of a certain building in Makati called after the shake. My aunt talked to her and asked her to go home. She confirmed my aunt that she was fine and she will be okay.

The earthquake was in the news that night. Manila was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0, with epicenter in Mindoro.

Every night on my to work, I never fail to pray to God to keep my family and all the people who are dear to me to be safe from harm. And, I also pray that God will keep our house and the whole looban away from fire, from flood and from earthquke. I believe that I will continue to utter prayers and will include our dear country as well.

I also encourage everybody to pray for each other and for our country. It’s a good thing that the shake didn’t cause any damage. Let us all pray that God will keep our country from danger. In our everyday life, especially during times of trouble, God is the only one we should depend on.

Losing Weight

It's my Life No Comments »

Our planned team building has been moved to April 10. I have contacted several private resorts in Laguna but almost all are fully booked already. :( Well, we had a meeting earlier and I we decided to spend the outing in one of the beaches in Zambales. I am so happy that we’ll have our team building in the beach. Remember I mentioned in my previous post that I love the beach so much. I am not a swimmer though, but simply staring the wide blue sea makes me feel calm and happy. :) Oh, I really need to learn more about weight loss pills! I hope that I would have enough time to lose my “belly fats.”
