I hope that everybody remembered that the reason for December 30th holiday pay is Rizal’s Day. Amidst, the busy schedule and everyday routine, we should not forget the heroism shown by Dr. Jose Rizal and all of our national heroes.
As I was looking over the Internet for a good picture to accompany my post, I found this picture entitled Rizals execution. I wonder whether this picture was really taken on December 30, 1896. Well, whether this picture was real or just a re-enactment of Rizal’s execution, it is still a reminder to each one of us and to tomorrow’s generation about his love for our country.
To this day, I still wonder about the contents of the letter he wrote for one of his sisters. History said that Rizal hid it in his socks. But when his body was claimed by his family, the letter was no longer there.
In our time today, we need not to die to become a hero. There is a hero in every one of us.
Ciao!

hello, i quoted several lines regarding Rizal’s photo:
“Most collectors of Filipiniana will tell you that a detailed engraving based on the execution photo was first published in Murat Halstead’s ‘‘The Story of the Philippines” in 1898. While there are post-1896 reenactments of the execution that show Rizal being shot, falling and dead on the ground, you can tell the authentic execution photograph from the fake by looking for the dog by the firing squad. A photo without the dog is probably the still from the movie or a reenactment.”
