The Unsinkable

History, In the News Add comments

As always, I spent hours of watching DVDs since it’s my off from work. I finished the season 1 of Charmed, which is actually my favorite TV series. I started watching few episodes of season 2, then I decided to watch an episode from the National Geographic Video Collections I bought a month ago.

I chose to watch an documentary entitled “The Secrets of Titanic.” I admit that I had been a fan of the Titanic movie in 1998, which starred Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. You bet I went gaga like any other teener, with Leonardo DiCaprio. In fact, I have bought several magazines about the Titanic and its lead stars. My dear godmother even sent me a 1000-pc jigsaw puzzle of Titanic and an address book. The thing is, I have not finish working on the puzzle and it has been 11 years since I got it!

The episode featured how the wreckage of Titanic is located by sending down sonar device that sends signal to the mother ship. It happened sometime in 1985. Then, in 1986, the expedition to get closer to it happened.

I am really having goose bumps while watching it. And as the submarine came closer into it and took pictures of once “most biggest and luxurious” ship in the world, I can’t help but imagine the tragedy that occurred about 97 years ago, during its first and final voyage.

There are a lot of websites, books and information about Titanic, which has been pass years after years. But the fate of Titanic taught us a valuable lesson. No matter how monstrous a device man has ever made, we should not be boastful of what we have made but instead be thankful for the wisdom and knowledge that was given to us by our one powerful and the truly unsinkable, Almighty God.
