I just received a text message from Bilog boy which gave me an idea to write something on. Today, is December 30. Today is a national holiday in the Philippines, for we remember Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s death.
He was shot to death at the Luneta Park, then called Bagumbayan, on December 30, 1896. It was 112 years ago. Well, is someone will do a google search, he may be able to find many websites containing information about our national hero. So, I will not elaborate what is it with this man.
Almost every year we celebrate Rizal Day. But then, does the essence of celebrating Rizal Day did any change in our lives? Do we still give importance to the reason behind his death? Or do we just celebrate or remember this day for the sake of “remembering” it?
