Boodle Fight at Tayabas!

It's my Life, lifestyle, Quezon Province, relationship, travel 1 Comment »

Boodle fight is a term used A boodle fight is a messy and seemingly uncivilized yet extremely practical way of serving a meal to a large group of people when in the middle of nowhere and eating  utensils are not easily available. In simpler terms, when you put banana leaves on a flat surface and then pour all the rice you have and the viands of veggies, meat and seafood, then you can start the boodle fight!

I remember when I was 10 years old,  we went to what we call our “bundok” which my grandmother inherited from her parents. I went there with my paternal cousins, titas and titos. We brought along 12 cans of sardines and there we had a picnic. There were no utensils available. I remembered my Tito Afin cut several banana leaves we ate there with our hands. Just nice to remember the old days in Quezon. :)

Well, there are places in Tayabas, Quezon which the whole family can really enjoy boodle fight. There’s an available utensils there, though. But the whole family can really enjoy eating with their hands. If you’re heading to Lucban, Kamayan sa Palaisdaan will be on the right side of the road. When ney and I had our visit to Lucban, we had our lunch there.

Of course I had my picture taken there.. :)

Another resto that you can go to is located in the opposite side of it. It is called Palaisdaan Restaurant. I researched on the owners of the two restaurants and found out that they’re actually siblings. Hmmm..

Ney and I had a lunch here as well during one of my visits to Lucena. We had a lot of fun for we were serenade by their staff. :)

Aside from enjoying the feast, the ambiance, the two restos are actually floating restaurants!

Another place that I love going to in Tayabas is the Graceland Estate. I believe it was patented to Elvis Priestly’s Graceland in the US. But you need to be a member to enjoy its facilities. Luckily! Ney’s father is a member and ney is a dependent. So, we’re able to enjoy the place and its facilities.  A family can have picnic, go swimming and enjoy jacuzzi, which we did! :)

Of course! How can I forget to have my picture taken?!?

Well, like many other places in the Philippines, Quezon offers great places to go to.  And I really love going to these places. Hope you can visit them, too.

A new Mom!

My new found friend gave birth to a healthy baby boy about 4 days ago. I sent her a congratulations message for being a new mother and she replied telling me the things that she went through in giving birth to her first child. I am so happy to hear from her and that she’s fine.  Well, welcome to the motherhood world, Mauee!

When Will I See You Again

lyric sheet No Comments »

When will I see you again?
When will we share precious moments?
Will I have to wait forever?
Or will I have to suffer and cry the whole night through?

When will I see you again?
When will our hearts beat together?
Are we in love or just friends?
Is this my beginning or is this the end?
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?

Are we in love or just friends?
Is this my beginning or is this the end?
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?
(When will I see you again?)
When will I see you again?

A Job or Ministry?

Something Good No Comments »

Some people have a job in the Church;
Others involve themselves in a ministry.
What’s the difference?

If you are doing because no one else will, it is a job;
If you are doing it to serve the Lord, it’s a ministry.
If you quit because somebody criticized you, it’s a job;

If you keep on serving, it’s a ministry.
If you’ll do it only as long as it does not interfere with your other activities, it’s a job;
If you are committed to staying with it even it means letting go of other things,
it’s a ministry.

If you quit because no one praised you or thanked you, it’s a job;
If you stay with it even though nobody recognizes your effort it’s a ministry.
It’s hard to get excited about a job;
It’s almost impossible not to be excited about a ministry.

If our concern is success, it’s a job;
If our concern is faithfulness, it’s a ministry.

An average church is filled with people doing jobs.
A great and growing church is filled with people doing ministry.

What about us? Where do we fit in?
If God calls you to a ministry, don’t treat it like a job;

If you have a job, give it up and find a ministry.
God does not want us a feeling stuck with a job.
But excited and faithful to Him in a MINISTRY.

A Place to Stay

I was on chat with my friend the other day, and she’ll be leaving Australia for US next month. She’s so excited about it for she finally got her visa and she said she’ll be able to visit the places she’s been longing to go to in the US. She’s not in a tight budget though but she’s a practical person. She’s been looking for an apartment to stay and she was lucky enough to find a website that offers ease for persons looking for a place to stay.

She said that roomster.net suits her place finding agony. It is a leading online site apartment, sublet and roommate hunting. It offers google maps, last member log in, quick messages, quick links and the apartment to share feature. It also has a large and active membership.

She was so excited about her trip and that finally found a place to stay. Well, good luck to you and bon voyage Ylea. Don’t forget my shoe size!

Letting Go..

Uncategorized No Comments »

I woke up around 7:30PM. I slept when I arrived from work. I’m really not feeling well. I like to cry so that I’d feel better but I can’t. I have a heavy feelings inside, someone will truly be missed. I shouldn’t be hurt. I shouldn’t even cry and feel this way. I just can’t help it. I want to burst my feelings out.

Sometimes, we meet people in our lives who make us smile. Sometimes, even if it isn’t right, we tend to fall for that person. When it’s time for them to leave, we get hurt even if we shouldn’t..

Can you call your heart foolish then? Maybe yes, maybe no.. Maybe, I should be thankful and happy, for once in my life, that feeling lived in my heart and made me happy. The only way to forget is to accept and the only way to move on is to look ahead and let the footprints of the past be blown by the winds of time.

There are things that I’d love to hear that you would never hear from that person whom you would like to hear them from, but I shouldn’t be so deaf as not to hear it from the one who says it from the heart. Ney will always be there for me. And I know that I do love him.

Maybe I fell for a moment but then I again, I decided to stop the feelings for it will not do any good for me. Tomorrow will be different and everything will go back to the way they are. I know that I’ll be alright and I pray that everything will turn out good for him, too.

Well, what do you know? I feel better now. Thanks for my dear journal for making me realize that someone out there, loves me so deeply and I should be happy and grateful for that love. That I should take care of it and value it.

Moving On..

As soon as u start to let go, they start to catch on…

when they come back (like always) laugh in their face and never give in…

they should’ve realized what they had before they said good-bye…

Beside the Angel Plant

It's my Life, Little Antoinette No Comments »

Mama bought angel plant for my sister’s project in school last Saturday. Being a plant lover, she also bought one for herself. That plant is actually the first that we’re going to have after we moved to our apartment about 6 years ago. It’s not that our landlady forbids us, but there is really not enough room for plants in our place. But mama thought that having one plant will be fine. Of course Antoinette is delighted and she’s very happy as she strikes a pose beside it!

A Rosary from the Sea

It's my Life No Comments »

My Social Security ID is missing so I have to clean up and fix my closet. Doing so, I found the rosary that was given to me by ney when he visited Boracay about 3 years ago. The rosary is like a finger rosary that has a cross and 10 beads. Antoinette saw it and asked who gave that to me. I told her that daddy gave the rosary to me as present. She asked why, I answered her, because daddy loves mommy.

About 10 years ago, when Ney and I became boyfriend and girlfriend, I gave him a rosary. Then the things that caused me a deep pain happened. I remember I went to my godmother Lina and I was crying hard as I told her what had happened. I also told her that I have given ney a rosary, she said that I shouldn’t give a rosary to someone for that means he/she will undergo a certain hardships and undertakings.

And so ney, gave me a rosary 3 years ago. As I looked back, I sure did undergo so many challenges that really tested my faith. I must say that a rosary is not really a sign of hardship or what we call “cross” in our lives. It’s a symbol of hope. That amidst all of life’s challenges and ordeals, God will always be there for us. And He will never leave us no matter what. Problems come to us to strengthen us and intensify our faith.

Adopt a Stray…Today!

Animal Lover No Comments »

If a person plans of having a pet, he/she will actually consider buying one from one of his or her favorite pet shops. A lot of people prefer buying dogs and cats to be their pets. They prefer something which is of high class breed. I have been to different pet shops already and the charm brought about by these “breed” animals are really irresistible. But, how may people have considered of visiting an animal house or pound to adopt a stray cat or dog and give them a home and a good life? Maybe 2 or 3 out of 10 persons? Or could be less..

Having a pet is like having a baby. A dog and a cat with or without a breed will give you the same joy and love that you will get from a high class breed animals. I have nothing against these full breed animals for they are really lovely and ney’s family has a lot of these kinds of animals. But they also have mongrels or just an ordinary street dog and cats. Which they have love and cared for.

It doesn’t matter whether you’ll get an ordinary dog or cat or what we call “askals” and “pusakals” that you’ll get as pets. What is important is that you get a pet to take care of and to love, not just to show off.

Some homeless cats and dogs need you today. You can help change a stray’s life. :)
