A Girl’s Notebook :)

An email was sent to the group by one of my colleague and friend, JB. He told Essa to blog about it since it’s a big news. 

A man of around 18-20 years old was stabbed then beheaded by another passenger onboard a Greyhound bus in Canada. According to the news,  the victim was sleeping with his head against the window when the attack occured.

The culprit, according to the witnesses was tall, large and wearing sunglasses even though it was dark. The other passengers attempted to help but was too late. When the passenger returned to the bus they found the suspect already sawed off the head of the victim.  You may click here to read the full the story.

These kind of murder happen also in the Philippines. Just recently, I watched TV Patrol and a man who was so drunk, murdered a family. It happened in Brgy. Malusak, Atimonan, Quezon. The suspect was indentified as Mario Banal. The victims were identified as Elizabeth dela Torre, 27; her children Elisa, 3; Arvin, 5; and Aiselyn Nicole, 4 months old; and niece Rosemarie San Juan, 12.

Banal is already with the authorities, and he was sorry about what he did. He told media that he was too drunk.

My tita who lives in Plaridel, Quezon(which is the town next to Atimonan) told us that the suspect is allegedly courting the niece of Elizabeth. We believed that he’s not just drunk but could be under the influenze of drugs.

I don’t know, but what’s going on with our world now..

About 4 days ago my mother and I were worried because we don’t have any food left in our fridge. There’s just around 2-3 cans of corned beef. No more eggs, no more rice. And worst, the money I have is just enough for my everyday “baon” until the next payday.

But then again, and as always, God is in the rescue. Last Wednesday night, I received a text message from my good friend Julius that we can get our special gift from HR. That’s actually a GC that our company gives for tenured employees.

I was expecting to receive that GC at around Aug. 18. But, it was really a blessing and just came in time.  I remember a quote about prayers. That when God answers our prayers it is YES, NO and NOT YET. YES and you’ll receive what you asked for. NO because He has prepared something better. NOT YET, for it’s not the time to receive whatever you asked for.

Well, I know  that God’s love for me is unconditionally inspite of shortcomings. We just need to have faith and trust in Him. For He will never fail us.

Yesterday, I craved for my favorite street food,  quek quek. I’m not sure how it got its name but surely, it is delicious. It’s a hard boiled duck egg. We call it ”penoy” in the Philippines. There’s plenty of it in Pateros. It is rolled into flour then deep fried it. I believe the orange coloring of it is caused by mixing “acuete” in the flour mixture. Hope I spelled acuete correctly !

Quek Quek!

There’s is a “smaller” version of quek quek. Wherein,  quail eggs are used instead of the duck’s! If you haven’t eat one, then get out in the street and try one!  :)
